I read that like what I'm sayng.  Woj is a writer.  He writes rumors all the time.  We could sign him outright too.  If it makes sense to trade for him we'd do that though.  How I mean that is in the absolute sense too.  Not just makes sense in the little sense.  As in "Actually makes sense."

Rumor: Lakers told not to trade for Paul George because he might just sign anyway

http://nba.nbcsports.com/2017/05/18/rumor-lakers-told-not-to-trade-for-paul-george-because-he-might-just-sign-anyway/

Yep. Zero chance DA is even remotely considering trading for this guy

Per Woj

I'm confused. Is the "zero chance" comment attributable to Woj or just the other stuff?

Just the other stuff.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

George is still only 27 years old.  He has mileage though because he came in out of highschool.  IT is 28 and just reaching his prime and was underutilized.  Horford is 32 and pretty typical.  That gives us a 5 or 6 year window depending plus...  It's not horrible.

We trade for George and his body breaks that would be devastating though. That's a chance you have to take in ways if you do something like that.

I would definately have doctors go over his body and medical records with a fine tooth comb though.
huh? He played 2 years at Fresno st

Oh my bad. you are right.  He's still so young and seems like he has been around forever  I forgot that. He was in the avery bradley draft.  I wanted AB that draft or Danny to trade up for Paul George funny enough.

I  thoght he came out of highschool  for that reason because i remember watching him and thinking he was a superstar that was being underrated because he wasn't fully developed.

He was at fresno state.

It wasn't that he wasn't fully developed either. Part of it was. He slid in the draft because he was at fresno state.  He was an underhyped star that way.  he was under the radar and overlooked by the national media.

fake news by me though. But also not really. I can admit that.  But also have a point too.

Totally offtopic, but Avery won some high school championship with Tristan Thompson

I know.    AB was a super hyped highschooler.  That was the john wall draft.  AB as a highschooler was hyped on the level of john wall.  He played a year or two at texas but fell in drafts.  I can't remember exactly.  I really liked him though.  DA took him because he was a hyped highschooler with potential who didn't have that great freshman year in college.

That was a good draft.  john wall went #1.  George went 10. AB went to us at 18.

I could tell AB was good from looking at him though.  Same with George and Wall.

I have a good memory regardless. My exact comment was George is the guy who is sliding who has a chance to be a superstar.  AB was  a highschooler with potential. Wall was a stud.  I watched highlights from highschool and college so it got confused.

A lot of people did not see AB like i did either.  A lot of highschooler get overhyped adn don't amount to anything because they don't have the heart, work ethic or mindset. AB was a super fast athletic undersized guard witha  defensive mentality and super focus and work ethic, and team oriented guy.  He was just raw.

other players get overhyped.  He was under the radar and I knew it.   He had an nba mindset and athleticism.

A lot of players get overhyped.  I can tell who they are too.  Some just aren't in good situations either.  Don't have the best direction or people who are out for their best interest.

The offer is AB, Jae and #1 for George and filler(future 1st)

Way too much. The #1 overall, and the rookie scale contract it possesses, has equal value to George, if not more. Especially since George only has 1 year left and will get a huge pay increase, or worse yet, sign elsewhere.

I believe that sounds like one of the offers Danny turned down at the trade deadline.

Danny could have made a bunch of trades already with the Brooklyn picks but has held the picks because he likes the players he can get a lot.

Danny didn't trade a Brooklyn pick at the dead line last year.  Danny didn't trade a Brooklyn pick at the draft last year.  Danny didn't trade Brown or a Brooklyn pick at the dead line this year.  Danny will not trade the pick now that he know its #1.  We will draft Fultz this year and if the pick next year is top three it will not be traded either.  People like to talk trade because trades are exciting an make for good debate.  But trading the #1 overall pick is a no no in an ordinary draft, and this draft looks to be historic.

As good as PG13 is he is not a Lebron, not a Kobe, not an MJ, not a Magic, not a Bird.  What he is is he is a really good player like a Pippin or a Worthy.  You don't give up a chance for Batman to trade for Robin.

Sure Fultz could bust but it is highly unlikely.  In fact the success rate for Guards drafted #1 over all is rock solid going back decades.  Every guard drafted going back to my birth in 1971 has been a star except for the recent draft of Andrew Wiggins, and the jury is still out on him as he is still developing and is already pretty darn  good.  Now if you look at the point guards taken #1 over all they have all been special.

We will not trade the #1 the pick.

Eric Bledsoe is the guy I wanted but he was picked 1 spot before Avery.

AB only played 1 year at Texas and unlike Wall he did not do an extra year of high school.

I really don't get why everyone is so enamored with us trading the 1st pick for Paul George.

Yes, he's an excellent player, but he isn't Durant, LBJ, Davis, or KAT. Those are the only players that I would trade that pick for. Maybe Turner.

George could bolt. The problem is without an extension, and obviously nothing short of a trade demand is Paul George is leaving anytime soon.

I would try to throw the Nets pick from next year, as I don't think the Nets will end up being that much more worse, with at least more healthy bodies to compensate for the lack of players this year.

good analysis by Spears on why the Lakers should think about trading for PG13 asap (so using the #2 pick)
