"You're a 50-win team, you're the No. 1 seed. You have to build on this momentum. If you can acquire a Paul George, Jimmy Butler, or Gordon (Hayward) from Utah, you have to do it."

George and Butler have long been considered potential trade targets for the Celtics, and their names could come up again if the No. 1 pick becomes available. Hayward is a free agent this summer, though, so it's possible Boston could land him and keep its top pick.

Our game 1 performance certainly didn't help matters to anyone, even Hayward probably.

If he's willing to sign an extension, let'd do it. I would still want Hayward too.

He just retweeted that so either it's irrelevant to him or he has no idea we lost and was busy watching The Voice.

I think the pick is getting flipped for him if we are able to sign Hayward 1st.

He makes perfect sense with Hayward, both just turned 27 since march, both will be entering their prime (28-32), 5 years younger than Lebron. Both contracts will be up before they hit a decline. They fit perfectly with IT(28) and Horford(Who's game should age well.)

Oh by the way we will still have young strong prospects with Jaylen,Smart, brk 18,Yabu,Zicic

The offer is AB, Jae and #1 for George and filler(future 1st)

Like I said in the other thread

It
Jaylen
Hayward
George
Horford

Smart
Rosier
Brk 18
Yabu
Zicic

Add vets chasing a ring on vet min

That's a roster that contends now and will be ready to take over when Lebron declines.

Have Jaylen and George to defend Lebron 48 mins. That is a lot of length and athleticism to contend with, especially as Jaylen matures.

Danny Since said in the press conference after winning the lotto, that fans who think a 19 yr old kid is going to change our team is crazy, he will contribute , but don't expect too much.

This team is set up to contend now. Don't be afraid of competing with the best.

Its not like we are mortgaging our future with a trade like this, still have plenty of young assets.

Way too much. The #1 overall, and the rookie scale contract it possesses, has equal value to George, if not more. Especially since George only has 1 year left and will get a huge pay increase, or worse yet, sign elsewhere.

You have to send out that salary in order to sign Hayward too.....

And would you rather tie up huge salary in AB or use him as an asset and use that money on 2 all-star scorers with size to go with IT and Horford?

I think it has to do with him being named or not named to the All-NBA team today. If he makes it, the Pacers can pay him $30M more than any other team.

Sorry, PG but I hope you don't. You'll be fine in Boston with millions.

Hmmm. Love me some Fultz, but I'd love me some PG, too.

If George commits to an extension I'd still be torn on what we would have to give up to get him.

Indiana will want #1 but I'd try to offer Crowder/Bradley/2018BKLN/Rozier

This is tough, and i'd guess they would only let us even talk to him to see if he would sign an extension if the #1 is on the table.
I think if we signed Hayward, and assuming PG13 signs the extension we have to do it.

But doesn't mean we should send the Pacers more than George is worth. We could always trade Crowder and Bradley in separate trades to acquire future draft picks that doesn't impact cap next season. Again, there are more options than what your listed

Fair enough, just saying they would need to go in order to acquire both George and Hayward.

Woj now reporting that the Lakers "feel pretty confident" that they can sign George in 2018 whether he's traded to another team or not. Some thoughts:

1) The Lakers are always irrationally confident that they can sign everyone, just like Love, Derozan, Aldridge, etc. Hell they thought that they should get a meeting with Durant after being the second worst team in the league last year. So their "confidence" doesn't really mean anything to me.

2) This is an obvious attempt to dissuade Boston or another more competitive team from trying to trade for PG. That much is clear. They're afraid that if he goes somewhere else and wins, he won't consider them next year at all.

3) I still don't buy this whole narrative. George has repeatedly said that he wants to win, and I'm sure he'd love to do that in LA. However, that's just not a reality any time soon, so I highly, highly doubt that he decides to go to a team that is more than likely a bottom-3 team once again next year, who doesn't even own their pick at that.

Ultimately, I think Magic is suspecting that Boston or some other team is going to trade for him, which is why he fed Woj this report trying to dissuade that from happening. This might also suggest that George in fact missed the All-NBA team and Magic found out about it early, making a trade from Indy very, very likely.
