 Assuming Hayward is coming here.

Big assumption.  We'll have to move some assets around just to present a competitive offer, and then he has to actually want to be here.  I think the chances that we land a major FA - Hayward or Griffin - are probably lower than Cs fans want to believe.
Got to agree . I don't see it happening .

I am more than happy to wait and see what our 4 rookies can do.

If we don't sign Hayward I see us extending IT and giving him more money next season so he doesn't recieve the full max. 25m per instead of 30m per is better long term. He would also be up right when Fultz needs a new contract : )

Jahlil Okafor
Are you going to spam every thread with this nonsense?
In all honesty, I used to do this kind of stuff much more....after every post to be exact. I only do what you have called spamming when I see a player that is very undervalued and is someone I would be willing to bet my name on, which is what I have been doing.

Think of it as a way to shut me the hell up in the future if/when Okafor is a ruled out as a complete bust. I'm not saying that he will be the next Duncan but I do believe he is in the worst system/team for his current skill set and current athletic abilities, which has vastly deminished his value and production. I can also understand and accept the criticisms on him. But IMO he is not a finished player. If you want I could message you with more info on Okafor with my reasoning.

Realistically, I enjoy scouting and they say the best way to get noticed is by putting yourself out there. That way people can make a fool of you with your former selections and you can learn from it.

I think the strength of our team is our guards and should stay as such though.  just because we are getting fultz doesn't mean we need 2 guards and that's it or even 4.   I want at least 5.

Why do we need hayward?  how many balls are there to go around?  We have IT. Fultz is coming in.  jaylen is coming.

I think the hayward stuff is nonsense right now.

People expecting Ainge to make huge sweeping changes this offseason are missing something.

Some superstars are very overrated. I'm not saying hayward is but honestly Bradley and fultz are probably better players because they play within a system and make the system in ways.

Why do we need Hayward? Because we are trying to win a title, and beat LeBron and the Warriors.

We need Shot Creator's and Fultz is 18 years old. Because like last year if you can add a top 20 player in the league with only cap space you do it. Period.

 Make sense?

Why? Because Hayward's a much better player than Jae Crowder and/or Avery Bradley. Ultimately, I expect him to stay in Utah, but Ainge would be crazy not to get him if he could.

Bradley's a nice player, but he's inconsistent, and he's oft-injured.  That plus his pending free agency plus the massive redundancy we'll have on the wings spells the end for AB. Better to try to unload him this year when we can parlay him into another asset vs. letting him walk a year from now and getting nothing.

Please don't trade for Okafor. He's a terrible defender, teamed with IT you're asking for trouble, and he's an old fashion 70's type of down low center. And exactly the center the Celtics talk about getting away from. If you actually listen to DA and CBS they both profess space and pace...Okafor isn't about space or pace.

IMO the C's should try to sign Hayward, keep Fultz, develop Brown, and find a way to get an athletic big to replace Amir.

What about AB for Saric?

By mid season

Horford
Saric
Crowder
Fultz
IT4

KO
Yabu/zizic
Brown
Smart
Rozy

I hate it.  But there isn't any trade offer for AB that I've liked any better.  The position we need is PF and there just aren't any acquirable ones that I like.  I'd stand put and hope for a NO Pelicans implosion.

Finals Starters:  Jason Kidd - Reggie Miller - PJ Tucker - Al Horford - Shaq
Bench:  Rajon Rondo - Trae Young - Marcus Smart - Jaylen Brown -  Peja Stojakovic - Jamal Mashburn - Carlos Boozer - Tristan Thompson - Mehmet Okur

I honestly think he will cost more than that.

I think they really like Saric. In another thread I proposed Crowder +  AB for Dario, which lets you keep Kelly and max out Hayward and also gives you a power forward. The downside is that you give up the best player in the deal and you might even give up the second best player two.

So thats a pretty Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing big downside.

Its a really hard problem to solve.

I still do not get it.

Roster move ideas based on adding a player to win-now, while dropping our win-now guy in AB to keep younger, less developed players like Smart (and to a lesser extent Crowder).

Want to compete right now or soon?  Keep Bradley.

Stuck on what to do when IT, AB, and Smart becom free agents at the same time in '18?  Wait until '18 to deal with such problems.

Danny will be proactive with his upper-level assets like these three. No way he lets all three of those guys get to FA unless he fully intends on keep all of them (just doesn't seem plausible). I hate the idea of losing AB, but he is currently the most expensive player on the roster (other than Horford) and is now an expiring. To further improve, he will need to be moved or he will be gone for nothing.

We are talking about upgrading our team with a young, solid all-star and the #1 pick in the draft. The Cs future is pretty ridiculous right now.

I tend to agree. I think Avery's impending unrestricted free agency and the fact that he can net a better return than Smart as a 2 way guy makes him the best trade option.

I love Avery and he's my favorite Celtic right now, but the writing is on the wall. I just hope he ends up in a great situation. I think Memphis could be a good spot
Maybe, but Memphis has nothing to give you, really. I mean, they have exactly zero picks this year and no interesting players... you're going to swap Bradley for a future first? Eh...

JaMychal Green intrigues me, but it'd have to be a sign and trade. Not sure we can do that if we actually do add Hayward.

It's all due to contract, both in terms of making immediate cap space and keeping the team together long term. I don't want to lose AB, but if it's him or Hayward, I want Hayward.

Given Avery's value, and his contract, this is probably the most logical move (assuming we can find a trade partner).  But, I would be tempted to just keep them all and let Rozier and Smart battle for minutes.  The issue is that neither has much trade value, and neither is a starter long term.  So just play things out and let either walk if need be.

You're totally right about Hayward being beter than Crowder.  Don't get me wrong, Crowder is a tough, smart, do-it-all kind of player.  But he's not creating his own shot when the clock is running down in the playoffs.  Hayward can.  Hayward played the 2-guard spot in the clinching game against the Clippers.  He held his own running around on defense, and backed down his man for elbow jumper on offense.

Crowder would be excellent coming off the bench.  That's what he is.  C's fans are just all giddy because we got a good, not great, player "for nothing" in the Rondo trade that was centered around us getting a Dallas first.  That should not elevate Crowder to starting material except when we have no other options, like right now.

Unloading Bradley now when he's playing well, and isn't yet considered a "rental," will bring back assets.  And adding Hayward "for nothing" as a FA is like stealing.  This is what Ainge strategically planned for for years with the contract structures and patience not to make quick-fix deals.  He's getting free money, but he needs to shuffle his cards in order to get something in return for Bradley and allow himself to take that free money (Hayward).
