Hear me out... I watch a lot of college basketball, mainly the good teams, and didn't see much of Fultz this season. I've read scouting reports on him and seen highlights he looks amazing, but my gut is saying Tatum may be the best player coming out of this draft in the end. He avg 16/7/2 in the ultra competitive ACC and to me is just a baller, not to mention it really would fill a need IMO of a true wing that can take Crowders spot and give us a real 3 a thing this team is missing.

I just want to know what is it about Fultz that makes him so great or enough to be consensus #1? I really don't care if we pick Fultz b/c he's really good but personally I think Tatum pans the most out of this draft.

My Big Board
1a) Tatum
1b) Fultz
3) Ball
4) Monk
5) Issac
6) Fox
7) Jackson (really not huge on Jackson. Don't like a guy who cant shoot it basically at all. def has huge upside as athlete but I just would take any of the 6 above him
8) Dennis Smith
9) Markkanan
10) Allen

I thought the same thing and its a small possibility that danny falls in love with Tatum or even Jackson as these are positional needs for the team and the team has 5 point guards (it, ab, smart, rozier, Jackson)

Although fultz seems to have such a well rounded game and high floor that it would be bad to pass on him

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
The good news is that if Danny really is in love with Tatum or Jackson, we will get other assets along with one of them (in a trade to #3 or #4) because there is no way he doesn't take Fultz #1 if he keeps the pick.

Back in high school a kid pointed out there's sorta two different kinds of crazy. If a kid dresses in pink pajamas to go to school he could be thinking "Well this is very comfortable and easy to wash" or he could be thinking "I'm a beautiful pink bunny."  One is more crazy than the other.

I'd say yes you're sorta in category one right now generally speaking. I mean you got reasons. I ain't gonna say much

Take Fultz and don't even entertain a trade or another pick unless someone offers you a blockbuster like AD, which isn't happening.

You aren't crazy. Just heavily biased based on what you are familiar with. We all have a familiarity bias.

I don't know,  but getting another guard on this team that isn't all that exciting to me.    Really wish the best player was another position.

You're crazy.  But I'd say fultz and Tatum are actually similar.  They both can score and have advanced games for their age.  And speaking of age, both are young.

Fultz I think is just better.  Can do everything asked of an NBA guard already, and has plus size for his position.  He's also more versatile.  Can play on and off the ball and has the tools to be a good defender.

As for Tatum, I would actually have considered him at #2 so you're not really that crazy.

Great point.... I would be a fan of that. While I like this class, I see the 2018pick with more value to us as there's looking to be good bigs and Michael Porter Jr who I love, so I would be okay trading down and getting assets while snagging tatum

I'm a duke fan and I think tatum could be very good but I see him topping out as a poor mans pierce or Carmelo. Maybe one or two alll star games. Let's not forget that the Acc shat the bed in the NCAA tourney outside of UNC who won of course.  Was this because they all beat up on each other or bc the acc wasn't really that ultra competitive? If the latter the numbers aren't as impressive.  I go fultz but think tatum or Jackson might be 2 and 3 in some order.

At Duke, he reminded me more of Carmelo than anyone else. Was hoping the C's would pick him if they dropped to #4.  However, seemed to sulk a lot too when things weren't going well, whine, lots of negative body language.
