Smart is so inconsistent...unreal 27 minutes and only scored 1 point.

At times Smart does contribute by playing great defense and adding decent scoring, but in the playoffs the Celtics can't afford him to play that many minutes and be absolutely worthless on the offensive end...

Yeah, I just discussed it in another thread I made just now about Crowder and Smart. -->

Love Smart, but 1 point in 27-28 minutes won't cut it.

If Rozier takes another step in his development, I can see Marcus beginning to feel threatened.

We alway seem to pick Terry as the guard to be traded, I can see with Marcus' rookie contract ending next year, and Marcus beginning to feeling uncomfortable.

Smart needs to work very hard this summer for sure, I agree, his offense is less than impressive.

I love Smart's hustle plays and agree that he can make "winning plays on the court".

But Rozier and AB have done extremely well in the playoffs so far too, and Smart has made minimal impact in a lot of these games so far.

Scoring 1 point in 27 minutes in Game 6 of a PLAYOFF game is not good.

It would be one thing if he got like 10 rebounds or 10 assists and played exceptional defense, but that's not really been the case either.

At least Crowder manages to nab like 7-8 rebounds a game.

I almost think something's wrong with him that they haven't disclosed and won't until it's all over, whenever that is.

He just doesn't look quite right, hasn't since Game 2 if I'm remembering right. It could be something he's keeping to himself.

Full disclosure: I'm a big Marcus fan. I hope he's around here a long time.

I agree. He's not the same, even when he's not scoring, he's doing something that helps win games. THe way he throws his body around, I wouldn't be surprised.

I have a feeling IT is hurt two, in an other thread people are wondering why he isn't driving to the hoop. Some it Washingtons D, but he seems slower and little lift. Guys are banged up this time of year, and this series has been a dog fight.

Smart already should have been traded at his prime. His value is in fall this year.

Funny how this thread is singling out Smart once again. The whole bench sucked.

KO - 21 mins = 4 pts, 8 rbs
Rozier - 11 mins = 1 ast
Brown - 11 mins = 2 rbs, 1 ast

If you're blaming someone, make sure you're not nitpicking to fit your agenda. If anything, you should blame Olynyk for not even trying to shoot. We know shooting is not Smart's strength and he's there for the Tony Allen role. He only attempted 3 in the game. While Olynyk only took 4 shots when he should be shooting more because he's more efficient than Smart.

None of these guys get pushed as a future Celtic as much as Smart. That is why.

Brown is just a rookie who barely is part of the rotation.

It's fair to point out that Marcus hasn't looked to make his own shot once this year, something he did consistently last year with strong drives, pullup jumpers, and in between floaters.

Smart has been trying to be a PG and get the rest of the team points.  He only shoots when one of his teammates makes a play and then he has to as a result of Brad's offense.

People need to relax and wait for him to put both games together.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Smart is not a small forward.
So sick of seeing him play there.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I'm all set with Marcus Smart and ready to move on. This is not a one game reaction I've been thinking about it for a while, but his defense and his hustle don't make up for his abysmal offense. IMO, playing alongside Rondo and then Thomas has stunted his offensive development. I'm not saying just give him away, but he definitely shouldn't be holding up any trade talks. I would be more than happy to have Rosier and Brown take his minutes next season.

How much do defensive specialists make in this league? Do they get paid money? Or do they get sent back down to the NBDL till they can hit 38% of their shots?

It's pretty terrible that his best shooting year was his rookie year.

What does this say to the rookies coming into the league? If I were an agent I'd be like "Don't worry about your shot. Don't worry about being in shape. Don't worry about your passing. Just defend like an insane defending fool and for sure the Celtics will draft you."

defensive specialists dont make max contracts, but they absolutely get paid.

MKG got paid, TA made decent money, Roberson is gonna get a nice chunk of cash.
