it bothers me how quickly some fans and posters jump on players that have gotten us this far
Match ups ,injuries, intensity of playoffs and game planning. Even referees conspire to make the playoffs a different type of basketball than regular season and much more physical'
Isiah scores 53 and two games later doesn't get to foul line once.
Bradley gets a painful hip pointer, now its two
Marcus is not anywhere near himself but he is the type that would play concussed
We came back in two games and beat washington at home and lost two on their court
This team has been though more than most and deserves better from its fans
It was win over 50 games, that was accomplished.,get home court advantage, that was accomplished. Then get out of first round that was accomplished with 4 straight wins. Then two outstanding comeback victories
The celtics are 2-2 and its the 2nd round and home court
Where is the fans celtics pride
Its not time to snip at the heals of our team but they do thrive on adversity.

Well said, rollie.  The lack of appreciation for the players is disappointing.

Marcus is not anywhere near himself but he is the type that would play concussed

What are you talking about?

Marcus is playing through  Multiple Personality Disorder.

The fan base in general is less schizophrenic than the Celticsblog fan base.  This team is appreciated.

Some truths from my perspective:
(1) The team has already improved over last year.  53 wins, 1st place in Atlantic and reached the 2nd round of playoffs (minimum) all represent improvements.
(2) Celtics fans generally have high standards.  All those banners have spoiled us and we want the best.
(3) Because of (2) above, Celtics fans want the players to be better and are frustrated when they are not.
(4) Armchair GMs have ideas.  Some of those ideas include not having Marcus Smart on the team next year.
(5) The tectonic shifts are strongly influenced by whether the previous game was a win or loss.

People too eager to tell the story before its even over. It's like trying to explain a movie to someone while it's happening.

It's never as good as it seems or as bad as it seems.  Happy to let this play out and compete in this 3-game series we have.  I'd say this is basically an even series talent-wise, but we have home court advantage so I'd be disappointed if we lost it (though that doesn't mean everyone has to be traded in the off-season).  We will be massive underdogs if we advance to face Cleveland, so a good showing or an improbable series win against them would be gravy on an already successful season.

Good post above.

I'd add :

6. Some of us recognize that the team is poorly constructed as-is, not including the insane rumination about Thomas being the problem, and are OK with the progress noted above.

For now.

When you consider we are doing this with a lineup composed mostly of non-lottery picks, it's pretty incredible what we have already accomplished. It also underscores that we are a bunch of over-achievers. Fact is Washington starters have more "talent". This team still has a ways to go. I'm fine with that. I still think we will beat Washington in7 games. But CLE is in another category. Home court will mean little to them.

Agreed.

The internet, for better or for worse, is a repository for all of our thoughts and feelings, allowing us to post what we are thinking at that very moment based on emotion, rather than logic. It's place to vent, it's gratifying and, most of all, it's fun.

The posts here sometimes drive me crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

how true, how so very true.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

The shift in my reasoning lately (though not a big shift)

1)  With Blake's injury, the more interested in Hayward I get in the offseason.  With Brown also in the fold at SF, I think Crowder get reduced minutes next year if they can get Hayward.

2)  Rozier's play in the playoffs plus the though the Celtics likely would get a G in the draft, I think Smart will get reduced minutes next year (especially if it's a player who has the PG skills)

I think AB's outside shot makes him more valuable if the team adds two playmakers.

3)  The Celtics need a PF.   Those players that may see minutes reduced can also bring back a good trade return.  Get that big man.

In all honesty I feel this team tries harder than 90% of the other teams in the league all season. But in the playoffs every team is going hard and that's where we realize this gutsy group just isn't that much talented. I only want them to bust their butts and not cave in like game 3 and 4. Fight darn it, FIGHT!

I agree completely.  Our team survives regular season by mostly playing with playoff zeal.  There just isn't another gear.  Csfan1984 is right--all we can do is cheer on our squad and hope they muster what it will take to overcome Washington.  It can be done and I'm not going to criticize our team or fiddle with "what ifs."  Instead I'll revel in the commitment these players have made to get us this far.  Are you in?
