He settles for 3s and thinks he's a great shooter. He doesn't know how to take it to the basket.

I can't wait until we get a better SF or play Brown more and live with his mistakes. Someone said the best thing is his salary but he's a 6th man...not a starter.

Good role player. Was never a good enough player to start at the 3 for a championship team. This is who he is. I agree that he doesn't look as quick and as he once did. Honestly, could be that bad high ankle sprain froml ast year. Otherwise I'm not sure.

Crowder has never been very successful taking the ball to the rim. He's not really long, or athletic enough, or quick enough. It's not his game.

Crowder is a good player...to have on your bench.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
He wasn't great at this two years ago, but seemed to be evolving last year. This season he improved his 3Pt% and that became his bread and butter. His vertical is pretty horrible so I don't think he has much confidence in anything except a fast break lay-up/dunk (barely ever dunk).

I used to really like Crowder. He was an emotional leader and the guy Cleveland went after (Perk/JR Smith) even though he was a relative unknown and had only been here for a couple of months. Lately, his defense has been slipping and has been relatively useless when not hitting the 3 (which has been most of the time).

He still has a couple of games to turn this around. Hard to get too mad at somebody who is on such a value contract.

Crowder is a placeholder, take it easy on him.
Jaylen or someone else who comes in a trade will eventually take his spot at the starting 5.
DA is planning for the near future, we're not there yet .

Crowder used to have the ability to draw fouls, but not finish through contact.

Speaking of Crowder, during an interview after Game 4...

"Crowder was asked about the 26-0 run and didn't realize it was that big. Opened his eyes wide.
'26-0? Man.'"

Maybe if he stay on his man, instead of reaching the ball, they wouldn't have themselves dig a 26-0 hole.

It's really hard not to hold it against him after his whole Hayward rant. Him now choking all throughout the playoffs is perfect evidence that we need someone of Hayward's caliber to replace him.

His only redeeming quality is his contract. That might be the only thing that keeps him around, because Danny did well to sign him to that long-term, cheap contract. Otherwise, he's been hot garbage on both sides of the ball this playoffs, which is not acceptable for him given his defense-first mentality. That should be there every game, no matter what.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I remember him being mostly catch and shoot his first season. If people bite a pump fake, sure, he might go to the rim. But he never had any real penetration moves with the ball in his hands.

Brown's not ready.

Crowder's shot falling off a cliff down the stretch run is concerning.

A hot week at the end of the season saved his #s, but 2 years ago he went from 33-->27 pre to post asb from deep. Last year he went from 35-->29 and this year he went from 41-->37 (if you include playoffs)

Crowder has played the 2, 3,& 4.  I think that when he first got here he played moastly at the 2 and 3 with really little play at the 4. He's a 6'6 block of muscle which allowed him to match up for spot minutes at the 4 and to bull over smaller guards at the 2.  Now he plays at the 3 & 4 exclusively and it looks like he is playing mostly at the 4.  At 6'6 despite his strength he can not play the 4 effectively for extended time.  Same with smart, when he plays sf.  The problem is with Smart and crowded playing out of position against good ompetion they are getting beat regularly.  Add to that IT at point and now they have to cheat off their man to cover for IT. That's why ITs man doesn't  score significantly more, ITs man sees the additional mismatch with us playing a 6'4 sf and a 6'6 pf and makes the smart pass.

Our best line up is a series of mismatches waiting to happen:
Pg IT - 5'9 - just too short, player just shoot over him.
Sg Bradley - 6'2 - playing optimal position, undersized but makes up for it with great D.
Sf Smart - 6'4 - strong tough defender but at his height he is a a disadvantage defending the 3.  Ideally he should be defending the point not the 3.
Pf Crowder - 6'6 - strong tough defender but at his height he is at a disadvantage defending the 4. Ideally he should be defending the 2 not the 4.
C Horford - 6'10 - finesse big, losses physical battles, but his technique lets him win matchups.  Ideally he should be defending lthe 4 not the 5.

Right now crowder is being targeted in the mismatch more than usual.

Basically what I'm saying is that the crowder we liked wasn't playing power forward as much as he is now, so I'm not really down on him.  I want to see how this roster turns out after the draft and free agency.  I expect we'll be able to match up more effectively next year.

It would appear that way based on frequency
