Is Olynyk slowly developing into a modern Bill Laimbeer?

He's been gaining a rep as a dirty big man who can hit outside shots and take cheap shots in the playoffs. I think our own KO is slowly turning into a modern day Bill Laimbeer. He should just fully embrace it. His value for us would skyrocket.

I don't see anything wrong with that comparison. I would love to have a Laimbeer type player on this Celtics team.Guys like that win playoff series for their teams.

Olynyk is a highly skilled, yet unathletic big man. If he can find an identity as a skilled big man with a solid outside shot who can do the dirty work in the playoffs, I would be glad to re-sign him.

Combine him with Smart and Bradley, and our own IT, we have a modern version of the the Bad Boy Pistons teams. Bradley is dang close to a Joe Dumars clone.

Bill could rebound and play defense and was an emotional leader and didn't look like a hippy. And KO is nowhere near half as dirty or illegitimate.

Ko is underrated at times, but this strikes me as a heck of a comparison

This years extended time in the playoff wars has to be doing Kelly some real good. He's learning...underfire.

IMO Laimbeer was a much more consistent performer, both scoring and rebounding. Laimbeer was very physical, and dirty, he like Kelly grabbed, held, and pushed. But Laimbeer had Rick Mahorn and company, getting his back, we have no such bigs on the roster.

(Just by talking about this I can hear Johnny Most in a total frenzy on the sidelines, screaming about both. If you're an real Celtic fan and you're unfamiliar with Mr. Most, you have a treat coming.) lol

So you're saying the "bounce" as Scal calls it isn't real? 

Seriously his bounce does show at times, but at other times just seems like a clunky athlete.  Just can be a frustrating player.  Sometimes I want to keep him sometimes I don't.

It really is ridiculous. Not even close. I think Johnny's nickname for him was McFilthy or was it McNasty. Anyway because lightweight Oubre hits the deck on a screen it doesn't make him Laimbeer. And the Love this was another over-exaggerated instance. If Olynyk was even in the same mindset as Laimbeer then he would target Wall or Beal or Morris - certainly not a guy who is irrelevant.

I agree Olynyk is more Klutz than dirty.  When Robert Parish punched Laimbeer in one game, no players, even Detroit players, blamed Parish in the papers the next week.  The Washington flopping and vilification of Olynyk is just pathetic.

Give him time, he's getting there! He did take out Kevin Love last time in the playoffs.

I'm actually KO fan and hope we can find a way to keep him this summer; however, TP for being creative and making me laugh. Subtle humor can go a long way.

Olynyk isn't a dirty player. Very clumsy, yes. His moving screens aren't any worse than most NBA big men these days.
