Was it just me, or did it seem like Kelly Olynk flopped?

TP, was going to make the same post. Kelly definitely flopped to sell the push by Oubre. I doubt he gets suspended, I'm sure the NBA will see Kelly falling after the charge as a flop.

What Oubre did was dumb for his team. He got kicked out of the game and he's lucky it didn't come back to hurt his team. I would be ok with a fine. I don't like it when they suspend players during the playoffs when it isn't really warranted.

Kelly Olynyk COULD NOT flop, as he wasn't looking at Oubre, but complaining to the official. Any person pushed with some strangth who is not aware of it goes to the floor.

I can't believe the flopping thing in this particular play.

Beal flopped bigtime against the screen Horford made.
Olynyk flopped where?...his screen was bone crushing but nevertheless was deemed ascreen...no flop there.

I think he meant on the push.   I'd say yes, he let himself fall over like he was trying to take a charge.

Oubre's hit wasn't really that bad.  Looked bad because of the run-up, but I think he realized he'd become the next Ron arrest if he decked him.   Really he just ran into him, didn't even really extend his arms to push him.  Olynyk just absorbed the hit like it was a charge, didn't move his feet and fell straight back.

If that happens on the playground, no one falls down.   In the NBA it's different as these guys are trained to plant their feet and fall all the way the floor.   That way, they don't tangle their legs up and get an ankle injury or something trying to step back and absorb the shot.

I wouldn't call it a flop, but he definitely let himself go all the way of the floor.

I can actually see them not suspending him.   Running up on a guy like that could have been WAY worse.  The fact that he realized it midway and just chest-bumps him showed a smidge of restraint.

Yup, what I meant. Actually, this is a really good take too. Players, I imagine, are trained to fall a certain way to avoid injury. Never really thought about that. TP

After not punishing Morris at all for intentionally throwing Horford out of bounds, if Oubre doesn't get suspended for attacking another player the NBA is sending a message to Washington: can get away with anything you want and it's going to get worse.

This is clearly a suspendable incident, in my mind. Nene was ejected and fined just for touching Dewayne Dedmon's neck. If Oubre gets the same punishment for actually attacking a player, that would be some bull.

Because contact was made with an official, I think he is gone next game.

If he had done that without the official being in the way, I think he wouldn't be suspended.

I think that he should be suspended for one game or else this can escalate. I almost want him to not be suspended for a few reasons:

1. We play a lot better with him in the game because he plays no defense.
2. More Oubre means less Bogdanovic
3. It will infuriate the Celts so they can be really p---ed going into next game.

I'm more or less agree with all of this. I want the Celtics to be p---ed off for Sunday's game, we cannot let guys like Oubre and Jennings punk us. A few things that I think can be fixed or won't happen before Sunday's game

1. Our shooting hopefully will improve
2. watching film on what went wrong yesterday can help better prepare on Sunday
3. Smart needs to cut down his TOs, as much as I am bias towards Smart and supports him, 8 TO is simply unacceptable.

HOW????? He is a very intense, I'd even say dirty, defender, with endless arms and a long wingspan. A 3 and D guy.

I would still guess he'll be suspended but it's not 100% in my mind.  More like 60% for the same reason stu mentions.  He didn't throw a punch.

I got the impression he was about to do a Rudy Tomjanovich impression, but the ref got in the way so he shoved instead

The league needs to suspend Oubre for at least 1-2 games, which would also help end the unnecessary tension in this series and just get back to playing basketball. Let's face it, it's not as if people are tuning in to see Oubre play, and losing him for a game or two shouldn't effect Washington and the series much at all. The simple fact that the NBA let Morris get away with blatantly throwing Horford into the crowd in game two is ridiculous. If there was only visual evidence before tipoff of Morris getting in Horford's face to prove there may have been any anger or intent to injure behind Morris's shove.

BTW, the NBA hates bad publicity. I'm sure their well aware of some of the news stories or headlines which focused on the near brawl or tensions turning violent. If there is no suspension now, the next headline may not be a near brawl.

No matter what, the technical and flagrant foul radar will be turned way up.

The team that plays smart will have a huge advantage.

I mean to me this is the critical thing. The ref basically planted himself between them and Oubre flung his arms right past him. Solely for the sake of the referee in that situation he needs to get punished. It only needs to be 1 game, I don't think it needs to be excessive but there has to be some missed time.

Wall's comments after the game should go some way to easing the tension, although Brooks seemed to support the action. There was no malicious intent from KO, Oubre overreacted because he's a bit of a hothead.
