Having watched how thoroughly Cleveland is demolishing Toronto, despite their acquisition of two of the players we most wanted, no, I don't think those moves would have put us over the top.

If the C's picked up KD35 last summer, or maybe Cousins, then the Celtics would have been in the same conversation with Golden State and Cleveland.

My expectations are...Celtics should get past the East Semis before getting wasted in the East Finals. Unless a big injury happens to one of the Cavs' Big 3.

I think the Cavs would survive even an injury to Love or Kyrie; as long as they have LeBron, they have the best team, because LeBron's still the best player in the game and gets the most calls.

As far as Danny's thinking, I think he views any success this season beyond a first-round win as gravy, like playing with house money. Don't get me wrong; he'll take the success now. I just think he's not expecting a higher level of success just yet.

No use in giving up assets under contract on rookie deals for expiring vets who would need to be re-signed. Look at what it would have taken to get Ibaka, the rumor was Rozier  and a pick?

I honestly am starting to believe we can win it all this is year with the ability to put 3 all defensive players on the court with IT and Horford running the offense. Jaylen/Green as the wild card, and KO/Rozier giving you consistent production.

He is supplanting MJ? MJ has twice as money titles and retired for years in his prime. That ship sailed. Comments like that just come off as a Lebron fanboy and that won't get a warm reception here. Lebron is a great player, absolutely no doubt about that, and is having a much better career than our main love here, Larry Bird. That being said he is way closer to Kobe than MJ.

The recent run of wins has me thinking what I thought before...that adding a guy like Ibaka wouldn't have improved the team. The chemistry of this group plays a huge part in their success.

It has got me thinking we are closer to the Cavs than I thought, but I wouldn't get confident about that until we take a game off of them. Let's get to them first

No. Even in that cas we'd be very far from Golden State and far from Cleveland. And I agree with the premise "Banner or no asset wasted", so I'm very happy with the outcome of the trade deadline.

Here is what I think...

We repeat history like 86.
That 86 team won 7 in a row in the Playoffs and won it all that yr and bagged the second pick in the draft.

We are now one win away from repeating 7 straight wins and 10 wins away from the title 😀

Then perhaps draft 2nd or hopefully first in the draft.

Obviously we still have to get out of the 2nd round but I think that, although Cleveland is way better than us, they are a good matchup for us and we don't back down mentally from them like Toronto does once they face adversity. Not saying we would necessarily win the series but it'd be a tough one.

This is kind of what I'm thinking, too. Cleveland was sleep walking for most of the regular season and now they're murdering Toronto. If the C's advance, it might be an interesting series or it might be like that Cleveland game in April where the C's looked like amateurs.

The streak is great but it doesn't change history.

No change.  No small move puts Boston in Cleveland's class.
I still think Boston should have acquired Cousins. He could have potentially made a difference against Cleveland especially if the price was essentially Brown, Zeller, and picks.
