I think the ship has sailed in Butler ever coming here in a trade. I don't see his position is enough of an upgrade, particularly as I project a significant increase in Jaylen Brown's minutes next season. Not to mention of who comes in with the BKN '17 pick.

The only real hope for a Butler trade is that their front office has truly lost it and will accept peanuts in return for Butler.

I feel like they'd either want a KG-type haul, or a bag of peanuts kind of haul

That's a dysfunctional front office we're talking about.

Even BlogABull is sick of them and scared of seeing Butler traded for peanuts.

I'm making this stuff off-limits:

Isaiah
Horford
Smart
Jaylen
2017 Nets 1st

I'm willing to discuss including anything else.

AB
Crowder
Rozier
2018 Nets
2018 Celts
2019 Clips
2020 Grizz

and so on.

The goal is to hit the court next year with Isaiah, Horford, a top 3 pick, and Jimmy Butler, with Smart and Jaylen off the bench.

The seller sets the price.  My guess is that Chicago would eventually settle an offer as low as 2017 BKN pick + one of Smart/AB/Crowder, so that would be the price or a deal equivalent in value.  I don't think Bulls would settle on anything less than that.

From the Celtics viewpoint as the buyers, I don't know if Danny would pay that price.

So I'm not far off from my post of AB/Crowder, Rozier, 2018 Nets pick (plus filler). I'd really like to keep SMart, Brown, and Nets 2017 since we're not getting Cousins or Durant.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I don't understand the infatuation with Butler.
Bradley played him even or better during our playoff series.

Consider the spacing around Bradley compared to that around Butler.  Also consider the context of the entirety of their careers.

Yeah.

Butler creates his own offense in a way Bradley is only just starting to.  A guy like that working alongside a IT/Horford pick and roll would do a lot of damage attacking vs AB who mainly is just spacing with shooting.  That's the big difference.  It's a big jump between an AB who averages 16 ppg this year (in the playoffs and regular season almost exactly 16 ppg btw) and Butler at 25 ppg.  Those games where the Celtics struggle to get contributions to score don't happen when you have guys who put up points consistently.  I think Celtics fans overlook that with guys like AB who sometimes score well and do things like shoot well but when you average 10 more ppg that's a huge jump.

For the series we just played against him, he was operating without a PG really down the stretch and all considered I was impressed how he handled it.  He averaged 5.5 APG this year too so this guy can make plays.

For me, I don't quite think Butler is as good as costs I've seen around.  It seems like George has about the same cost and I would much rather spend there for example.  Also depends on who we draft.

But for a good price Butler would be a whole different dimension to the team.

Quoted for emphasis.

You swap Bradley out for Butler straight up and see how they'd do.
