And people wanted to trade him and a pick for Obama.
HAHAHAHAHA
Why is that funny?
The one single cause of difficulty for us throughout the playoffs so far has been our major hole at the PF spot.
Ibaka is averaging 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks in 30 minutes (while shooting 37% from three) for the Raptors in the playoffs so far.
As much as I love what Rozier has brought (I've been one of his biggest supports on this forums from day one), we would be a much, much better team right now if we had Ibaka starting in place of Amir / Green.
With Ibaka on this roster, we probably sweep Chicago in the first round, and we would match up much better with the Wizards front court in this series too.
Right now we've managed to overcome the Wizards bad matchup by simply playing tougher, smarter and with more passion then they have. But they still have a matchup advantage over us, and that matchup advantage wouldn't exist if we had Ibaka.
Toughness and intelligence are a part of the game - just ask Larry Bird, Bill Russell, John Havlicek, Paul Pierce, KG, the list goes on and on.
And I don't know why you are still hyping Ibaka. He is overrated to the extreme. There's a reason he went "cheap," he's all flash, no substance - and he isn't even that flashy any more. The Thunder never won a title with him, and neither will the Raptors.
He's the perfect player for a treadmill team, though.
Trading for him also would have made it harder to acquire George or Butler at the deadline - guys who make a far greater impact than Ibaka ever could.
You sell Ibaka incredibly short.
He's not a star player, and I don't think anybody would try to suggest otherwise. But he's a very good player, who can help a team in a lot of ways.
He's a solid defender, a good rim protector, a passable rebounder, a productive scorer, and one of the best jump shooting bigs in the game.
As I said, he's currently giving the Raptors 13 and 8 to go with 2 blocks - that's a hell of a lot more production then we are getting from any of our current PF options. He is basically a poor man's version of playoff Horford (or a rich man's version of regular season Horford).
Having Ibaka at PF would be somewhat like having two Al Horford's on the court at the same time. We'd be a much, much better team for it.
And no, Ibaka didn't win a title with the Thunder. That's because the Thunder were led by Durant, who will never win a title without riding somebody else's coattails, because he's a soft little
Edited. Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. who has zero competitive edge. A team can only go as far as it's best player.
Ibaka is a complimentary player, and a very good one at that.
