I'm convinced now after hearing them for the past 2 weeks and especially after Sunday, they don't watch or know how the Celtics play. They seemed to be shocked by all the 3 point shots and\or makes. Yes, they shot well Sunday but the only person that really played better than usual was Crowder. IT averages 27 against the Wiz and Horford always led all centers in assists.

They thought the Wiz would just roll over the Celtics but never realized the Celtics have probably the best perimeter defenders in the NBA in AB, Smart and Crowder. Wall and Beal will get there's but the Wiz have no bench and Wall and Beal will be hounded all night.

It's pathetic and I hope we put the smack down on the Wiz again tonight. The team gets no respect.

I'm more than happy for us to shock and come in by stealth mode. This team is so endearing. I love every player (with the exception of KO).

I mean when you deal with all the adversity they've dealt with..., the leader dealing with a tragedy, being down 0-2, then being down 16-0. I'm wondering what deficit or game situation will effect them in a way that they don't believe they can overcome.

that's been true for years.  only year they seemed to have paid attention was the 2007-2008 season when they tore up the league after the trades for KG and Ray.  we were on their radar from the beginning due to the trades and stayed there do to their record.

the national media only pays attention to the 'stars' that headline the league such as Bron, Durant, etc..  I don't see them follow franchises, even the major ones like the C's/Lakers/Knicks, unless they have star power on the roster.

There's a french expression that says : "To live Happy, live hidden".

:)

It's only an issue regarding the "All-star whistles" that some players as LeBron, Harden and Butler get too often. But I think IT is slowly starting to get that treatment too so...

We match up excellently with the Wizards, I really think we take away their biggest strengths and punish them with ours. My prediction for the series was 4-1 and I think it'll be fairly convincing.

The only shame in all this is I think Washington match up better than anyone with the Cavs. Of course I'd prefer us to have a shot at them but I'd like to have seen that match up too.

Thank-you and TP for starting this thread.  I have been barking lately about how the C's don't fit neatly into the current NBA marketing strategy (which has the national networks' full support) of having a couple of super-elite players who sell shoes and jerseys with their name recognition.  Since they don't understand, it is easy for them to say, "Oh it was due to Rondo's injury" or "Oh Morris is out now so Celtics will win" (by default, is what they are thinking).  They can't bring themselves to credit Stevens for his excellent moves (like starting Green and throwing the Bulls off-guard) or Ainge for acquiring the depth that the Bulls and Wiz don't have, or even the players for simply wanting it more and playing harder than their opponents.

Its easy, they dont care because we dont have:

LeBron
Durant
Curry
Harden
Westbrook

Those guys drive the league and league focus with it. As much as we see IT as a super mega star, the rest of the world I think is finally starting to catch up with us just a little bit on his super stardom.

TP!

I was listening to the Bill Simmons podcast and house mentioned that he thought the Celtics were lucky to make that many 3's and that it won't happen again.

Apparently he didn't realize that the Celtics won a lot of games this year simply by hitting more 3's than their opponents.

For some reason the national media is prone to discounting the Celtics, where they anoint teams and players who have not had the same success. It's crazy that the Celtics are the top seed and still seem to be treated as the under dog by the media.
DKC:  Rockets

The popular narrative these days is that the Wizards would play the Cavs harder. I listen to a lot of NBA radio on Sirius XM and 10-10 talking heads live and die by that point.
It makes me want to pull my hair out.

Why? Because the Cavs blew us out at home towards the end of the season? That appears to be the defining game to our entire season these days amongst the talking heads of sports world.

Realistically neither team will beat the Cavs but saying that the Wizards are a tougher opponent is just absurd. If anything the Celtics defensively can give Cleveland fits that the Wizards cannot. Whether we stop them is one thing but at least we have the pieces on the defensive end.

Exactly and the Wiz are the sexy pick. I admit the Celtics don't have the mega stars but they are dogs when it comes to competing. I was shocked to see them play like they were zombies in the first 2 games of the Bulls series but anyone could see they had a legitimate reason.

I only worry when they aren't hitting 3s that they keep shooting them and leads dwindle. I just want a 6 game series vs the Cavs and it will make this season a success. If within 2 weeks we are playing on the 16th in the ECF and then land the top pick in the lottery, it's going to go a long way to landing FAs. No team will be setup better than the Celtics.

A lot of the local media don't either.  Or haven't until 2 weeks ago.

Just take a look at some of the local media takes/columns on Horford, Stevens, Celtics offense, etc...  It's apparent that plenty of them have had very limited exposure to this year's Celtics team.

TP, slam.

And EVEN in "07-'08, vs the Fakers, we were 9-11 underdogs. So that underscores that even then we got no respect.

Lets be the early millennium Pistons here and sneak up on everyone for 18 in '17.

I like that: "18 in '17.
