  • STEP 1 (Free Agency): Sign Gordon Hayward to max. Sign a vet big at MLE (Taj Gibson).
  • STEP 2 (Draft): Markelle Fultz at the #1 spot with a little luck with the ping pong balls.

Next years rotation:

PG: Thomas/Fultz
SG: Bradley/Smart/Rozier
SF: Hayward/Brown/Nader
PF: Crowder/Yabusele
C: Horford/Gibson/Zizic

Lets win a series against the Wizards and set up a battle with Cleveland.

If we use our cap space, we won't have the MLE available. The most wed have is the Room Exception, which would not be enough to sign someone like Gibson
I'm bitter.

Plenty of options once you compete at a high level and add 2 big pieces in Fultz and Hayward. We will be in the position to attract vets at minimum salaries like GSW and others.

Good except the start PF.   I hate starting SF at PF all season long.

There would have to be a trade.  The over depth at G (and possible SF) needs to be changed to a starting level PF/C

I think if this is the plan as OP states, we could definitely trade Rozier and try to get a serviceable PF. I think Terry's value is going up with his play in the postseason, the issue is his contract isn't all that valuable in a trade because it'd be hard to match with someone who probably has sizable contract. Is James Johnson a FA this year? He's on a 4 million dollar deal right now. Could we get him for cheap?

Going into a full season with Jae Crowder as the primary PF = "very bad idea(tm)". And that's before we consider the fact that he's going to be backed up by someone who is likely a career D-Leaguer.

I agree, except I don't think Yabu will be a career D-leaguer, I think more as deep bench depth PF.

What about Milsap as the starting PF, but not on a max deal or deal for the Magic's Vučević and swing Al to PF.

If you sign Hayward to a Max deal, and sign a mid level big, this team will have to be taken apart to afford both. In other words... trades.

A few name players have to go...

An alternative might be that Rozier's improved play in the playoffs makes it that much easier to part with AB for a pick/lower cost player so that we could keep Kelly Olynyk's bird rights along with signing the max FA.
