Rozier over Portis, A Magnificent decision Lol.

Rozier had a good game. By now Portis probably would have had a good game in the playoffs.

Rozier has played well in almost every single playoff game so far, and has had a positive impact pretty much every time he's stepped on the floor. He's been right up there with Smart and Olynyk as the three guys who have been contributing off the bench consistently, every night.

Portis had one good playoff game, and then for the next 5 games against us he may as well have not been on the roster - because he did nothing at all.

I was hoping for a Rozier thread. Having watched him play these last two seasons, I was assuming he'd be a great "trade piece" for Ainge....complete with "upside." Having watched him play the second half of this season? I wouldn't say "yawn" but he wasn't getting out much.

Thus, his playoff run has been a lot of fun to watch. Stevens keeps him tied up on the bench then unleashes him on the opposing back court. "Hey? Glad to see Bradley sitting down? You gonna get a face full of Terry Rozier now."

He reminds me of early Avery Bradley subbing in for Ray. "Just go nuts on defense...you're not an offensive threat." Rozier has thrown in some exciting offense this April and May and it has turned our bench into one of the better in the league.

KO--Rozier--Smart played for 75 minutes last night and I have to give them credit along with IT's boffo point job on the dreaded wiz. Washington was toast with 5 minutes to go. They, like the Bulls last week, had been just plain run ragged by the Celtics rotations.

Washington bench--64 minutes
Celtics bench--97 minutes
Wall/Beal--94 minutes

To be honest, when it went into OT last night, I was on oxygen, but, I knew they had these guys. Wall and Beal were used up.

Thus, if it hasn't already been done, would someone please post a new name for Rozier?

yes. Rozier has also been a part of a bunch of  several key comebacks. He is the Rally Man.

Portis needs his teammates to create easy shots for him, while Rozier actually makes plays at both ends. I'll take that any day.

Rozier has definitely played well in this series, but when I think of reasons the Celts are winning these games he's a little lower on the list and improved rebounding is pretty high.

I think if the situations were reversed he might not be doing a lot in Chicago and Portis might be doing pretty well here.

Terry Rozier, Pick #16 in 2015.  23 years old.  He is just doing what he should do and doing it pretty well.  There is no way that you say that he was a bad draft pick or that he wasn't good value at #16.  You also can't expect that after 2 years, he is clearly better than every other player picked after him.

I think if anything, Rozier is more a case that Ainge is good at finding value in the draft not the opposite and this is regardless of how well Portis does or doesn't turn out.

Rozier has really impressed me this postseason. He's really stepped up his game after a disappointing regular season and has played smart ball with solid D. The kid also has ice in his veins.

All that being said, I think I'd still prefer Portis to Rozier due to our situation. I think if the players switched teams, Portis would've helped us out a lot more during the regular season due to our lack of solid bigs and rebounding, and I think Rozier would've excelled in Chicago without being behind both IT and Smart, let alone AB. And things will only get worse for him if we sign someone like Fultz.

We saw how bad Chicago's back-up guards were. I think Rozier would play a significant role off the bench for them. As for Portis, I think he would probably be in a KO-type bench role for us right now if he was here. He's largely been mis/underused there in Chicago.

Ultimately, depending on where our draft pick ends up and what we do in free agency, I could see Rozier as a significant, though certainly not main, piece in a Butler trade, especially with how high Chicago was on him in that draft.

Will probably never start as an undersized guard with no passing ability whatsoever, but I see great first guard off the bench upside in his future. A good pick from a middling position in a weak draft.

To be honest I'm even more impressed by 0 turnovers in almost 3 full games' worth of minutes from a guard who handles the ball and drives a lot.
