I don't seem to see any of the people who were weeping and wailing over the prospect of exchanging our "assets' for the guy who absolutely torched us tonight, do I?

I wish someone here would have had the foresight to point out the need for a rebounder at the deadline.

Or the foresight to point out that taking a redundant guard ahead of Bobby Portis was a mistake.

I wish I'd thought of all these things.

My gift to Danny Ainge for screwing us...

Excluding Horford, our bigs had 3 defensive rebounds combined for the entire game.  Horford had 5 defensive rebounds.

I don't know if an internet post can adequately describe how pitiful that is.

Some of that is by design.  We clearly don't emphasize offensive rebounding and we do emphasize our bigs rotating on defense to blocking out.  That has to be overcome by individual effort and we've got some poor rebounders compounded by a coach who has let poor effort slide this year.

A TP for you, sir. I laughed.

As anticipated, this is a tough night for those who would defend Ainge at any cost.

Just like Doc as a Coach, to the most overrated GM of all time...

Congratulations!  You get to pretend to be smart after the results of ONE out of 83 games.  It would be a bit more meaningful if you didn't seem to disappear when your theories don't work out.

Not really, seeing as Ainge has still has

1. Engineered a champion
2. Pulled off one of the greatest trades in NBA history to disband said champion
3. Rebuilt a 50-win team after bottoming out for just one year
4. Held on to #1 odds in the impending lottery

You know what? After looking at that resume, I see why you guys are so disgruntled. I think we should hire a real winner like Billy King, Phil Jackson, Rob Henigan, Ryan McDonough, etc. You know, all of those guys that are outperforming Ainge.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

When in doubt, blame Ainge.  It was his fault Crowder and Olynyk didn't show up.  He also should have traded the Nets pick for Faried.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
One game. IT's sister passed away for god's sake. Understandable if the team was distracted tonight.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Lots of hate against Danny. I don't see how he is faulty on this particular game:

Yes we lack a big and he could have gotten us one at the trade deadline.

But does that mean we are unable to beat the Bulls with our team ? No. Not at all. We lost this game because of the way we played.

You'll be glad when we have cap room this summer and he makes smart moves.

Size / rebounding is def an issue for us.  Our down the stretch lineup was
IT - 5'7"
AB - 6'2"
MS - 6'4" (me being generous)
JC - 6'6"
AH - 6'10"

That small ball close out lineup is just not going to get it done on the boards and on D in crunch time in the playoffs.  Too small with IT being an MVP level on offense and a sieve on def.  AB undersized trying to stop Butler, granted no one on our team really did tonight.  I don't blame BS at this point, but playoff basketball is all about adjustments.  We are playing right into their hands with that lineup.  Just too [dang] small against the bulls tonight especially if they are hitting 3s.

I think Ainge knew this team was much further away from winning a championship than  us fans. He knew this was a fraud team that still has major moves to make. Why give up assets to make your team better only to win maybe 1 more round? Rather keep everything and make the bigger trades.
