So funny buddy who's a Raptors fan is scared says they are bleeped. He was happy to see the Celts in the second round now he's like we're in trouble. Loloo

I think the #1 seed would matter a bit, in terms of optics for free agents.

And, while I think we would lose to the Cavs no matter what, with home-court advantage it's more likely that we take them deep into the series. That would be fun.

That said I don't have a lot of confidence in this team right now, to make it to the ECF whether we finish #1 or #2.

Honestly, I don't trust them to go out there and take care of business these next two games.

Someone may want to caution the Cavs. Can anyone remember the last time an NBA #1 seed from either conference didn't get to the Finals?

Cavs in 2014-2015.

LeBron has been to six straight NBA finals.  His team has been the #1 seed only twice in that time.

The 2014-15 Cavs were the #2 seed behind the Hawks and made the Finals. In 2013-14, the Miami Heat were the #2 seed behind the Pacers and made the Finals.  In 2012-13, the San Antonio Spurs were the #2 seed behind the Oklahoma City Thunder and made the Finals. In 2011-12, the Miami Heat were the #2 seed behind the Chicago Bulls, and the Oklahoma City Thunder were the #2 seed behind the San Antonio Spurs.  Both made the finals.  In 2010-11, the Miami Heat were the #2 seed behind the Chicago Bulls, and the Dallas Mavericks were the #3 seed behind the Spurs and Lakers.  Both made the finals.

And that's just for finals that Lebron has played in.
I'm bitter.

The Hawks in 2015 were #1 in the East and got swept in the Conference Finals.

LeBron's made the Finals much more often as a 2 seed than a 1.

...now I see BitterJim's got that covered already.

Someone may want to tell the Cavs while they're trying to be cute toying with the #1 seed, that it's still important. They are treating it like it's no big deal.

Can anyone tell me the last time a #2 seed or below from either conference made the NBA Finals?

Only 10 overall #2 Seeds have ever won a NBA Final
Only 7 #3 seeds have ever won a NBA Final
Only 1 #4 seed has ever won a NBA Final (69 Celtics)
Only 1 #6 seed has ever won a NBA Final (95 Rockets)

...so just keep on blaming it on being healthy. Personally, I don't believe Bron has players around him that are as hungry.

Saltlover, me, straightouttabahstun, and fairweatherfan all just answered that for you.  It was the 2014-15 Cavs (#2 seed behind the Hawks)

Agreed. I'd love to be proven wrong, and it would be great to have momentum going into the playoffs after that last Cavs game.

Ok, you got it. LOL It doesn't happen often and I don't think the Cavs have what it takes from the makeup of the roster. Toronto would be a tough series for them in the 2nd round.

Let's figure out the possibilities after we beat the Nets, no sure thing. Same with the Bucks game, even less of a sure thing.  CLE could lose out and still get 1st seed.  Too much fantasizing on this board.

Could possibly assure that we won't meet Toronto in the second round of the playoffs. Not that Washington or Hawks are "easier" matchups, but I feel like we match up better against them than Toronto.

The bigger issue is that this could cement a meeting with Miami in the first round.
