Poll: Would IT take a 2 year 60 million dollar extension

Why not just give him a 4 year extension (we can give him the designated extension due to him almost surely going to make an all nba team this year and him being traded to us in his fourth season). This will ensure we get the remaining years of his prime, save some money as opposed to signing him next year and also make him happy.

That sounds the right thing to do once Danny sign his FAs or made his trades.
However, I don't know the rules for the contract he can get as an extension.
It might be too low and not doable.

With all the liquidity that mostly bad or mediocre teams will have, it's probably pay him or lose him. Bring in Hayward, Zizic, and Fultz/Ball and see what we've got. Sign him at the end of next season.

a) just ask yourself if anyone ever took that type of a deal, not named lets say LeBron(but a totally different situation)
b) it's flat out saying, hey we are going to pay you for two years, and after that you are on your own because you will be older and still short. danny would never insult someone like that

it is a business, and right now IT is proving to be a superstar, so he will want to get paid as one.

I am frustrated to see all the max player talks around here, like, Al Horford IS NOT a max type player but we had to pay him that money. I am concerned that we get another max player that is in fact not worth as a max player, and what you have done is basicly killed all the chemistry, and chances to win a title.

IMHO Horfords contract is a big issue and i am afraid that it might cost us a lot in the future. I love the guy, but you don't pay a non all star 30 year old guy max money for 4 years and get away with it.

1. Horford had been an all-star the last two years before we signed him.
2. Signing Horford was our only option to get Durant last summer. We were close.

It was a no brainer, so I can't understand all the fuzz about Al's contract. After all, if everything goes bad in two years it will be an expiring and easy to be dealt.

The level of disrespect is unbelieveable. This team is nothing without IT and it's no guarantee that Ball or even Fultz will become better players in the future.

Put yourself in IT's shoes. Knowing you've done everything for this team would you accept a 2 year 60 million dollar extension considering that a better deal can be found out there?

If the C's get the top pick then Fultz is the future, whether you like it or not.
A guy who is five-seven cannot win an NBA championship as a starting pg, plain & simple.

Also, I'll take a team that is "nothing" without him, thank you very much.... He couldn't even hustle back on defense for half the plays against the Cavs, that was a really pathetic showing by him that night.

I think IT has exceptional value...as a 6th man. I love his toughness, his ability to score in bunches, he's a great teammate, and a strong leader too.

In a perfect world, on a team that has a chance to win an NBA championship, he would be one of the highest paid 6th men in the league. I'm all for that signing. 3 years 60 million.

I agree almost 100% with your post.  I think IT is a great player, but I worry about the length of a max contract when his quickness and athleticism starts to decline a bit.  If we could somehow do 3 / 60 mil it would be a done deal.  Unfortunately I don't think that is going to be ok with IT.  He has stated a number of times of wanting to get paid. 

Isn't the consensus that we will need to either extend IT at the max right now, or go full on 5 year max deal at the end of his current contract to keep him?  I think if we are going to pay someone around 30 million a year I want it to be more of a two way player with NBA size.  Paul George or Butler I could be on board with at that price.

All this probably gets adjusted depending on how well we do in the playoffs this year.  If we do well and get to the ECF and IT plays very well in the playoffs he is going to have a lot of bargaining power.

 I will say this, If It were traded straight up for Steph Curry, than he would win a championship as a starter. That's probably the only team right now though.

Why is this even being asked? The whole premise is lacking any thought! Think about it. If at your job your boss said I will give you a contract for the next two years at x amount but you knew that another company would pay you x amount for 4 years, would you take the contract your boss was offering you? Of course you wouldn't.

I am still amazed to see people posting that IT is just a sixth man or that he isn't worth or won't get at least a four year max contract. You people need to wake up. IT is a superstar and a starter. IT is going to get a max contract because that's what 30 PPG scorers make.

I still don't understand why some undervalue him so much. If you stop looking at his height, you will realize the guy is now a perennial all-star, probable All-NBA team, efficient 29ppg scorer on a 50+ win division/conference winner. He is the clear leader of the team with no other all-star, so I don't get how anyone doesn't think he deserves the max.

His defense leaves something to be desired, but I see him going out this offseason and really putting in work to get better. I believe defense is more of a natural skill than an acquired one, but I think he can become a mediocre defender, which is all we should really ask of him.

If he even considered such a thing I wouldn't be shocked if his agent would dump him if at all possible.
