A piece on The Ringer this morning from Chris Ryan.

I think this missing the point a little. Yes, the Celtics could've used another star last night and will likely need one to compete at the highest level but the offense, to my eyes, wasn't the problem. It was the defense. Defense that gave up easy bucket after easy bucket and couldn't cause turnovers which meant no transition offense, which meant everything was harder.

Yes, Paul George (or Jimmy Butler) would've helped the offense last night but either would've also helped the defense, which I see as more important to this Celtic team's success.

Which is also why the Pacers are asking for too much.

Yesterday was an aberration. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were some of the worst basketball I've seen this team play this season. There was a lack of focus and it was evidenced by the easy baskets we surrendered. We weren't communicating at all and weren't properly switching or rotating on off the ball action.

Pretty much.

At what cost does acquiring George actually work to the detriment of the Celtics in terms of depth?

How sure are you it's not the opposite?

Exactly! This is why we need PG13. Teams will just double IT in the playoffs. We would've had to give up too much though. Let's wait until 2018.

I knew as soon as we had a 20-19 lead and KO came in the lead would be gone. They destroyed us from that point forward.

He is the Marshmallow Man.  If I were him I'd spend the entire offseason in the weight room and come back in beast mode.  Maybe he's just built like Pierce who could never get any real muscle tone, but good lord KO needs to get some strength.  KLove just destroys him.

I would love PG13.  But the price has to be right...too high a price and it could become a Melo type of situation...not enough depth to make it work.

I also think that Butler is a better player but PG13 is the better fit.

PG13 or Jimmy Butler would do wonders for this team. The game against the Cavs was absolutely disgusting. I get that we missed some open shots we normally make but that wouldn't make up for the 30 point difference.

In the playoffs, depth takes a backseat to talent.

If we end up with #1 or even #2 I think that Bird says yes and agrees to trade us George. Especially with him looking to want out. It's an easy pitch to Indy fans. "we are losing George but getting Fultz/Ball back."

No, it's NOT.

Would you trade 2017 BKN Pick, and 3 of Smart, Brown, Crowder and Bradley for him?

If you say yes, then idk what to say honestly.

This
adding PG13 is cool, but not worth the Nets pick
Crowder ,Bradley and 2 firsts should be the limit

same, a BKN pick, and 3 of our core defensive players? nope, we get back a star sure but then we lose the defensive pieces that surrounds him, so that will open many many holes...doing that trade won't get us anywhere. People still fail to realize this team is still in rebuild mode, and that we have exceed everyone's expectations and growing faster than expected...these people need to be more patient

It reportedly also took taking on Monta Ellis' contract to land George. I like George, I'd love to see him in green, but that's a hang up the phone offer.
