  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Houston seems like a good comparison to me.

Seems like most diehard NBA fans would see us as underdogs vs the Rockets in a 7 game series.
Isaiah is our Harden and we have a bunch of very solid role players around our star. We have a better coach and defense, but they have a better star and better offense.

So who would be favorites in a 7 game series? Yes we would win some of the time, but who would be the favorites going in right now?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

yes. We have the defenders to take Harden out of his game. I think we match up really well against Houston. We've played them twice--once in december, once in the end of January. In December, we lost by 11 point-- 106 to 107-- in a game where we had multiple shots to win. In January, we won a not so close game 109 - 120.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

Yeah but I think we'd all lose our minds seeing all the calls Harden gets in the whole series

Hell, that could be the difference in winning or losing the series.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Assuming we're fully healthy I would feel confident in Bradley and Smart's ability to contain Harden.

Anything is possible. However they have Beverly who wouldnt exactly be an easy matchup for IT.

Id pick us in 7 games but it would be close.

I really don't see how we'd defend at a high enough level to prevent them dropping 120+ on us 4 times out of 7.

We'd beat them, but would not be favored.

Not favorites. I do think we stand a good chance at the "upset". I just don't believe Houston is legit and once the playoffs start and the intensity ratchets up (particularly on D), Houston is the worst of the top 4 teams out west.

we have played them twice and neither time did they score more than 109 points.

Plus teams tend to score less in the postseason.

Going into this season the over/under on Rockets wins was 41.5.

That roster is trash outside of Harden.

What they have done this year is nothing short of amazing, Mike D'antoni should win coach of the year.

They will get exposed come playoff time, though, they will stop hitting 3's and their defense is going to get shredded.

I am not sure, we have a fair chance to beat them.
There are many teams in the playoffs that have one guy that makes it all happen for their teams.

SAS - Leonard
HOU - Harden
BOS - Thomas
CHI - Butler
IND - George
OKC - Westbrook
LAC - Paul, sorry Blake, I am not a believer anymore. Drink on me when you come to Dubrovnik again, just show me this post. :D

I have already seen all of these 1-star teams get silenced in the playoff series. Once that 1st option is stiffled, Arizas, Danny Greens, and such, although fine players, they don't have the same shots nor chops to make the same difference as they did in the regular season.

Things like Hardens wrist or an injured specialist could decide the outcome of that series. And as we all know noone can predict those, on the 1st look smalish, but certainly very tangible losses.
And these single stars also get tired come playoffs. It is more apparent on the defensive end, as the are late on reactions or don't show the neccessary effort.
I dont think they are far ahead of us, if at all, but I do believe they have a better, bigger, version of James Harden.
Lets hope we see the outcome in the finals.
