One of the most frustrating side effects of a blow out loss in the playoffs is people coming in here and relentlessly posting that we should trade the entire team for draft picks.
It's just unrealistic.
I began this thread before the playoff started. Even before that I was post of the growing minority that said we shouldn't max IT. As far back as last year I was posting that he wasn't in the long term future. I made this thread to try and show in a clear realistic way that IT's days are numbered. I reposted to it because now it seems that sentiment is picking up steam.
This is not trading the entire team for draft picks. It is the natural progression of younger more talented players replacing older players. I believe we will get Hayward who is much better than Crowder and will play serious minutes. So where's that leave Crowder? As a 6'6 pf? Not likely as Zizic and/or the 2018 pick is going to allow Horford to pay the 4 where he belongs. Crowder will only be playing spot minutes st the 3/4, come the 2018-2019 season. If he's not traded before his contact is up he'll most likely walk for nothing. He's getting paid less then Zeller now, he's going to want to get paid. Also we saw how he reacted to the fans cheering for Hayward back when we played Utah, I imaging he's not going to be all that pleased with backing him up.
Fultz will absolutely replace IT at the point. IT can start over him all year and make another all star team, but he will not get a super max deal in Boston. All those who think he'll take a reasonable near max contract for 3 years indeed of a 5 year super max need to understand that he really wants to get paid. IT makes less then Zeller now. The NBA just said he is a super max player, to offer him less then even the regular max is a serious slap in the face to all that he's done. A fringe playoff team will offer him the normal max and he'll take it.
I'm also not opposed to keeping Bradley and Smart to come of the bench. They make a nice back up guard combo, but Rozier and Bradley would be good too. So, one of those three is going to have to go.
