Could this happen?

Hmm. In O7 Danny was sure to split his top 2 assets to headline separate deals.

Not sure about salary, but the pieces are there.

The year is still young, but I think I'm ready to cast my vote for Thread Title of 2017.

Yeah but our team would look like this:

PG: Demetrius Jackson / Josh Hagins
SG: Butler / Young
SF: PG13 / Gerald Green
PF: Sullinger (claimed off waivers) / Jordan Mickey
C: Tyler Zeller / DaShonte Riley

Maybe if we get #1, I think #1 + Bradley + future 1sts could do it for George.

Then we could sign Hayward and have a lineup of:

IT / George / Hayward / Crowder / Hortford
Rozier / Smart / Brown / [MLE/Vet Min] / Zizic

TP for Josh Hagins and DaShonte Riley being real people.

If we get Blake Griffin, and PG.

I think a team of
IT
Smart
George
Griffin
Horford

Is a better team than Butler and George, while sacrificing a decent amount of our assets..

Amir, Crowder, KO, picks for one.

Zeller, AB, Rozier, picks for the other.

Crowder and AB have great deals, so split them. Split the BKN picks and the MEM and  Clips pick. One gets Yabu, one gets Zizic.

And just maybe...

Michael Pina: On The Lowe Post, Cavs GM David Griffin said there was a moment before the trade deadline when he thought Boston might land PG and Butler 4 hours ago – via Twitter MichaelVPina

During a podcast appearance with ESPN’s Zach Lowe, Griffin fielded a question regarding a report the Cavaliers were on pins and needles about whether the Celtics were going to acquire Butler from the Chicago Bulls. “I don’t think it was just Jimmy,” Griffin replied. “There was a moment there where I thought they were getting Paul George and Jimmy Butler, and that was concerning.”

“That would be concerning,” Griffin added. “I mean, we don’t get to play anybody else’s cards, right? So spending a lot of time worrying about it doesn’t make sense. But certainly we were paying attention. Toronto obviously made some moves to get much better and our conference has been I think quietly getting better on a steady increase since we got there. So I think we were concerned with the whole conference.”

Wonder if that was the plan?

How do you land Butler AND PG13 without decimating this current roster and treasure chest of assets?

And how do you make it all work under the cap for years to come? Then we have no bench depth..

That's what assets are for.

Griffin can rest assure. PG nor Butler ain't the one who's gonna threaten them. It's Jaylen Brown and the BKN picks that they should get afraid of once they developed and build chemistry.

Cavs GM is crapping himself. No way the Celtics can beat the Cavs in a 7-game series with PG13 and Jimmy Butler with a decimated bench and half the roster gone.

As another poster pointed here, he should be worried when Brown develops into the next DWade and the Brooklyn picks become gold. But that's when LeBron should already be in the state of declining. It should be Toronto who should pose as the Celtics' future long-term threat should they continue to get any better over the years.
