Last 10 games, he's averaging 12/5/1 with great defense in 24 minutes a game.

This is also with an efficient 55% shooting (and he was supposed to be a horrible scorer).

Ingram has played 30 minutes a game on a tanking Lakers team, but has only 8/4/2.

Now I know Ingram is a year younger than Brown and scouts have said he will need 2-3 years to really develop, but starting to look like Ainge has hit a gold mine by picking Jaylen!

He didn't get a lot of playing time which is why his overall season averages don't look great (6/3/1 in 17 minutes a game), but with more minutes he's really showing what he can become.

And I'm not going to let that missed FT yesterday affect what I think of him, he still had 14 points and 6 rebounds on 4/8 shooting. Pretty good if you ask me.

The unsustainably high 3P% is a little bit concerning to me, because that inevitably has to come back down at some point.  This is completely irrational, but I'd almost be happier if he was putting up the same numbers but "only" shooting 37% from three.

Otherwise it's been great to see him blossom though.  Think we'll make a capable starter out of him at the very least.

He's ahead of schedule.  Definitely a good sign.

I'm sure he'll come back to Earth a bit in terms of shooting and overall production, but this is what you want to see from an elite one-and-done prospect: stretches where they show you what it might look like when they're prepared to take on a bigger role.

seems odd to use Brown's last 10 games, but Ingram's full season when comparing the two players.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

Ingrams numbers have also been going up.

I think the main point OP was trying to make was that Ingram has getting major minutes all season, but Brown has not. Ingram averaged 27 minutes a game in November despite not being ready at all and shooting 34% from the field and 30% from 3.

For February Ingram averaged 10 points a game on 44% shooting and 4.5 rebounds a game.

Well overall Brown has also played only half the minutes Ingram has.

6/3/1 for Brown. 8/4/2 for Ingram.

one's working on his bball skills.
one's working on his body.

this is comparing  apples and oranges until their 3-4th year.

I've tried watching more of Ingram to get a better grasp on him, and I've got to say I think Jaylen ends up being the overall better player. Not only is Jaylen's athleticism on a whole other level from Ingram, but I don't see the "drive" and "fire" from Ingram that Jaylen has. Ingram really reminds me of a Wiggins or Gay type - a very good player, but not quite All Star level. I also think Jaylen has much higher two-way potential than Ingram.

Granted, Jaylen also benefits from being on a good team, which Ingram doesn't benefit from. On the other hand, Ingram benefits from being on a terrible team with much more room to shine individually and statistically, which Jaylen doesn't benefit from. But I'd bet Jaylen would look much better in LA than Ingram does now, especially with his ability to get to the hole and free throw line. I bet he'd average somewhere around 15 pats a game with 6-7 rebounds playing starter minutes in LA.

Now imagine that the C's got the #2 pick and selected Ingram and LA got #3 and picked Brown.

Assuming identical stats, how would we be spinning our pick?  If our 19 yo 6'9" string bean is scoring putting up 8 and 4 now, just wait till he breaks 200 lbs!!

It's probably fair to point out that the Lakers are 2-8 in those last 10 games for Brandon Ingram, and most of those have been wide margins of defeat.

I honestly think Danny drafts Brown at #2 also

At #1 I'm not sure what he would have done...Simmons is not a CBS type player

Ingram is probably going to be a match up nightmare in a few years, but man I love Jaylen.  Hopefully the get to battle this out in the Finals soon.  I like our picks slightly better overall though, as Smart > Randle.  If we can nail this year's pick, I really like our odds.  Especially if the Lakers get the 4th pick or later!

I would love to see:

1st pick: Celtics (Fultz)
2nd pick: Knicks (Ball)
3rd pick: Portland (Jackson)
4th pick: Lakers ---> Sixers (Dennis Smith)
5th pick: Sixers (Malik Monk)
6th pick: Suns: Ntilikina
7th pick: Magic: Isaac
8th pick: Kings: Robert Williams

That would be amazing and hilarious.  I would even be ok if we drafted Jackson 3rd and the Blazers drafted Fultz #1.

Yup I think so too. Apparently Brown was number 2 on Ainge's board according to Blakely during the draft.
