Seems a bit far fetched since his early season contributions were limited but if he continues to play at this level he could at least be in the question... Now this is only if the voters decide Embiid in he 30 games played this year doesnt qualify ...

Since its a numbers game first if he averages 13ppg for the rest of the season he will get himself to 8ppg... his rebounding rate should soar as well .. lets say 4rpg..

Now stats alone its puts him behind Saric , whom really isnt a rookie ... but shoots a bad percentage on a bad team...

Brogdon probably has the best overall resume .. shoots well, shoots threes, plays defense ..

Then you have guys like Hield , Murray , Ferrell who are just stat stuffers ... bad shooting %, no D, bad teams ...

Jaylen is probably the most complete player (outside Embiid... again not really a rookie)... best progression on a top 5 team ... it might be too little to late but I think its at least worth a talk...

2 cents

No.  He's not even in the top 10 right now.

I can't even think of 10 rookies who are getting consistent mpg...

That said, it's still Embiid.   Guy was electric in the games he played.

With Embid out and already under a lot of fire before it. Brown has a shot.

No, because he isn't even better than Pascal Siakam *NBA logic*.

There is a outside shot if Embiid and Saric split the vote and Brown continues his upwards trend

Unless he just goes bonkers to finish out the season, it's hard to see Embiid losing at this point.

Is there a minimum game requirement for rookie of the year? I think Embiid has only played 31 games which is very low for an award candidate in a 82 game season, let alone with a minutes restriction.

I can't imagine a guy who played only 30 games winning this award.  Brown is up there.  Higher than guys like Chriss, Dunn, Ingram, Bender, Simmons, etc.  I didn't like the pick initially, but Brown looks like the best draft pick in the entire draft.  Bo?

Yeah, Embid isn't winning it based on 31 games. Really, it should be between Brogdon and Brown with Brogdan having a sizable edge. Chiefly because he's playing a lot more minutes.

There is a outside shot if Embiid and Saric split the vote and Brown continues his upwards trend

This is pretty much how I felt until I took a deeper look at Saric.

Brown's averaging 13/5 since the All-Star break (granted, only 5 games, and 2 were without Avery and the other 3 Avery wasn't playing starter minutes).  So I was thinking if he can continue to put up numbers like that over these last 20 games while playing good D on some marquee names, then maybe the C's winning record, combined with the lack of games from Embiid and lack of production from just about anybody else might give him a chance.

But Saric has been putting up 19/9/3 over his last 10 games.  With Embiid out and Noel gone and Simmons never showing up, what's more likely to happen.  Saric keeps putting up those numbers or Jaylen keeps putting up his once Avery starts playing 30+ mpg again?

Brown has an outside chance, but he has to continue doing what he's doing fpr the rest of the season while Saric doesn't.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

If Embiid had played 41 games, I think he'd be a lock.  Since he only played 31 games, it is going to be an interesting vote.   Embiid should still win ROY because of his sheer impact especially on defense.  He had a legitimate shot at being an all-star.  The Sixers are 23-38 overall but when Embiid played they were 17-14.  Just looking at 20pt games of the top 5 in the rookie ladder and Jaylen, Embiid dominates.

20pt games:  Embiid 19, Saric 8, Brogdon 2, Chris 2, Hield 2, Jaylen 1
