These are the 2 guys his body type and athleticism remind me of most. He has their quick first step and leaping ability, and may be bigger and stronger than either by the time he enters his prime.

Not saying he will end up a HOF player, but the physical tools make him a big time prospect.

Anyone else see these comparisons?

I remember MJ and Kobe as skinnier 20 year olds. It was impossible to predict that MJ and Kobe would be as good as they were at such a young age. JB would have to exceed everyone's expectations to come within a mile of their career performance.

I think (can't say I watched too much of MJ at UNC) both were better finishers than Brown at such an age.

I think JB is stronger and has the same electricity as both of those two at 20.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Not as skilled as either. The physical tools are there.

I hate comparing 20 year olds to legends in any capacity, but I will say that Browns fluidity and agility have shocked me. I expected him to be a bit of a clunky athlete who was explosive and strong.

He is explosive and he is strong, but his ability to change speeds and direction with grace and fluidity is really impressive.

I am very intrigued by Jalen's athleticism.  I live in Nevada and attended the summer league games this past July and in the game against Dallas he did a post-up baseline turnaround that reminded me very much of Michael Jordan.  I looked at my son and told him, that was a Michael Jordan turnaround.  Obviously he has a very long way to go before making serious comparisons to either Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant, but I am very excited to see what he can do with his work ethic and athleticism.

Before people discount the question, keep in mind that we're only talking about athleticism; not skill; not bball IQ; not competitiveness

With this in mind, I vote yes.
He needs to keep upper body this lean, imo. He's plenty built up top; and I dont want him to end up looking like Jason Richardson. I don't want his shoulders and arms to be too big where they slow down his ball-handling worse than it already is.
He can definitely work on his lower body/core. Give him a little bit more stability, which should help out his ball-handling and overall defense.

Not as explosive. Not as quick. Probably stronger. More powerful around the basket. Lacking the same ferocity in driving to the hole. I don't see the comparison. Jaylen seems more Paul Pierce than those two, if we are going back in time. Like others said, the impressive thing is that he's both strong and fluid.

Edit: I was really excited to be leaving "Ray Allen" behind when I hit 4000 posts. And I get Toine?

I know the shot. I had the same reaction.

I know Jaylen is a rookie and far from a finished product, but he strikes me as more physical, but comparable in other physical attributes.  I think his shot will be really good, but no match for MJ or KB.  He'll continue to develop his moves, but the thing he lacks, to me, which I believe is very difficult to improve drastically at this level, is his ball handling.  It's what makes great offensive players great!  He doesn't have it now, and doubt he ever will at a superstar level.  Just my honest opinion.....but I hope I'm wrong!

With wide shoulders and long legs to run fast he reminds me of 'Nique a bit, inch or 2 shorter, and younger version. Later he bulked up and got ripped, JB will get stronger too. Then again, maybe it is the short shorts and retro hairsryle that fool me.

Jaylen was 6'5.25" tall no shoes at the combine. I would guess that is slightly taller than Jordan was with no shoes.

Muscular development at the same age it's not even close. Brown is closer to Dominique Wilkins there.

Jordan was probably the greatest athlete we have ever seen. Kobe just had so much skill at that size.

Agreed, I don't think he has the same lift as those type of guys. Long term I think Jaylen will be a 3 so I'd want to compare him to players at that position not 2's.

Once Jaylen has filled out I expect him to be close to 235-240 solid muscle so body type wise he's not similar to Jordan and Kobe who are of leaner builds. My comp would be a rich man's Corey Maggette or a poor man's Dominique Wilkins (with less hops but good 3 point range)
