Would you trade the 2017 Brooklyn Pick, unprotected, for Joel Embiid

Yes. Embiid = Hakeem + Kareem / 2 with 3 point range. He's a superstar and injuries don't bother me.

No. He's got one working knee and is on pace to being the biggest "What if..." in NBA history.

I don't do the trade because of his health issues but also because there is a good chance one of three players in this draft become transcendent, franchise cornerstome players themselves and at positions that are much more important to success in today's NBA.

While I don't think that's a given with these kids and I think as a whole this draft is being way over rated, I do think Ball, Fultz and Jackson definitely have that potential ceiling. I wouldn't give up that potential ceiling and financial control over it at a bargain price for the next 4 years to take the chance that Embiid might get healthy for a year, sign a max contract, get hurt again and never play again.

How much access to Embiid's medicals do I get?

If a single one of my doctors think the guy can play for a decade, I pull the trigger. Holy cow is he special.

That said, if my team of doctors look at the medicals, and say hes a 7 foot tall Brandon Roy(I understand he had degenerative knees which is different) then Id say nope.

to my untrained eye theres not a single guy in this draft with half Embiid's potential.

To my untrained eye, most of the players in this draft will play more games next year than Embiid has played in three.  ;D

And yes, Embiid has looked special but I do think in three years, when these players are the same age Embiid is now, that there are a couple who could be special too, just in a different way.

Danny would be a fool to make such a trade.

you really cant answer this question without the medicals.

in a different way?

like a lesser way? or do you really believe there is a Joel Embiid level talent in this draft.

In a different way because they play a different position. I think there are a couple of players that could go all Steph Curry on the league and just play way above what anyone expected out of them coming out of college. And the Celtics are in a better pisition to land that player, as long as they identify them, than any team in the league.
