He was active and confident last night.   Solid game .

Hopefully he can keep going.

The KO hate around here us nonsense.  He gets bashed because his game isn't flashy or sexy.  No poster dunks.  No breeaking ankles or swatting shots into the 5th row.  Make no mistake, Kelly is about to get paid. He is an excellent positional defender.   Not just a lump who is adequate because of positioning -- he is legitimately a good defender, league wide.  He's a part of many of our best defensive lineups.  He turned his biggest weakness, fouling, into a strength over the past 3 years.  He's great at moving his feet and not fouling even tho he gets no respect from refs.  His pump fakes infuriate people and his drives aren't pretty, but they are effective.  There are not many guys with his skill set.

tp on these two points

he was a fouling machine in his first two seasons... i think he moved and the refs blew there whistle, then told him to cut his hair...it was that bad

and those pump fakes on the offensive end... i think the opposing players called timeouts to LOL

He "gets it" now... he still is in foul trouble against guys he doesn't matchup well against, but outside of this...not really

on the offensive end, still pump faking but not as much...  his plus/drawback is he doesn't like taking bad shots that he gets too cute with the ball....and also only shoots when wide open

Completely agree.  If Evan Turner is worth $17M, so is Olynyk.

OP may want to change heading to "KO has been embarrassing his opponents."

Great game for him last night. His defense has really picked up, he is starting to get more aggressive on that end.  Sometimes it just takes him to make a few plays to get the refs off his back, and not call ticky tacky fouls on him.

He also has the cut to the basket, reverse shot down pretty pat. Worth 4-6 points a game.

What? He has a good game and we are supposed to forget how horrible he has been for two weeks? Olynyk is what he is...maddeningly inconsistent. He can be difference making one game, okay for a few and then just disappear for a few and then repeat the cycle. If he gets paid, I hope its elsewhere.

Our best line up, by far, has him at PF. And that's throughout the entire season.
Even when he has a bad game, he helps our offense and defense immensely with his versatility.

Only way we aren't re-signing him is if we get an All Star this off season and can't afford him.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Basically Blake Griffin...and I doubt he is coming here

KO should be getting Evan Turner type contract/money to be a jack of all trades type of help

likely come off the bench but start when needed

Olynyk goes as most NBA players go, more consistent minutes, more production.  When KO plays more he does better.  Same as almost every player who isn't over 30yrs old.

I'd overpay KO before I'd pay Turner what he got.  Skilled bigs is harder to find ....especially ones that are decent foul shooters and passers and have their head screwed on correct.

I'm never mad when Kelly shoots and misses .   .....it drives me insane when he passes up an open shot.....

Or tumbles every possession. That's definitely embarrassing to watch. If he wants to get paid, then better start adding more muscles to keep yourself from getting pushed around by 6 foot forwards.

If Hayward resigns with the Jazz I wouldn't mind getting Kelly back at all. Fits our system well, he's just inconsistent.

Some of yall need to get your eyes checked out if you think Kelly Olynyk deserves to be on next year's roster. We're not keeping him long term. He isnt worth 15M. The way he plays makes me CRINGE. At best he gives us a few "No! No! Wth are you doi...YEAH LETS GO!" moments. Don't think it'll be hard to find his replacement. We can start by bring in Yabusele and Zizic next season

Yes, he's somewhat inconsistent. But I suggest comparing his per 36 numbers with Myles Turner's numbers.

He obviously does't block shots like Turner, but otherwise, he has nearly identical numbers, and he is a very good overall defender. This is a little crazy. He is extremely valuable.
