Tucker Traded. Bogut Likely Going Elsewhere.

Are the Celtics really not even going to make a small move?

Forget ECF, looks like we will make the second round and lose to the improved TOR/WAS teams.

We can go toe-to-toe with Washington and Toronto. HCA would be ideal. Making the ECF was our original goal this year, and then making a top pick in June.

Then aim at Gordon Hayward in FA.

The plan hasn't changed.

Here's the short term improvement

Smart, Jaylen, Rozier, Jackson, Mickey, Young....probably in that order (with probably only the top three helping this year, if ever).

And oh yeah....we have a borderline all star joining us next week. His name is Avery Bradley.

Here's the long term improvement

Smart, Jaylen, Rozier, Nets pick. Nets pick. Our pic. 2nd rounder. Ton of money. Zizic, Yab.

Ainge basically gave up on the year by not even getting a re-bounder in here. Noel was basically traded for nothing, Cousins not much, Ibaka not much. If he didn't want to part with picks and Crowder ect... then at least make a move like one of those guys to help your team compete this year. Ceiling for this team is the second round. Can't understand why he did nothing to at all to help this team this year. Trades were out there to get without giving up much for players that could have helped this team. Pathetic.

Okay I'll admit I may have overreacted a tad bit when making this post.

I was always fine with no blockbusters and staying patient, but I really felt we could have made a fix with Bogut or Tucker for real cheap.

Oh well, on to Toronto tomorrow!

50/50 Celtics lose the East. They have no shot at the Cavs this year.

It's not George or Butler--it's Ainge's failure to do anything to improve the rebounding/defense up front. And he got finessed out of Bogut, who will probably sign with the Cavs.

I give Danny an F for the trade deadline. He sets his sights too high.

Honestly, even if they had traded for Tucker and Bogut/Gibson, the Celts still wouldn't have a better than 50% chance of getting to the ECF.

Also, we should consider that other teams with guys like Tucker and Bogut probably ask for more from the Celts because they know the Celts have a lot of picks.

Agreed.

Total failure by Ainge. He didn't have to land the big fish, just a rebounder. And they were out there - for pennies on the dollar.

He totally struck out. Owes the locker room an apology.

And yet people think this guy is going to draft a champion. That's so cute.

I would not be confident playing Toronto in a playoff game. Washington, kinda. But Toronto improved in obvious ways.

Second round of playoffs at best. Team cannot beat Cleveland or the Raps as it is constructed. Might as well look forward to summer

Not a bad thing.

Trust the Process - Danny Ainge style.

We all have to remember that even if he gets a package for DCousins - we make it to the ECF and probably give Cleveland a good run. It didn't cost that much to get Cousins and that's where we messed up.

Brad not wanting to coach a percieved Malcontent is something that has to be addressed. in the NBA talent trumps all (boy do I hate the fact that I used that word) and by not upgrading talent, when your competition did the C's lose.
