Be nice.  Maybe all of these rumors with the Pacers are really about them making one last ditch effort to appease George and if they strike out will trade him.  Still find it hard to believe given their current record and standing, but who knows.

Stein himself didn't seem to give the executive in question much credibility.  I think it's just some frustrated paranoid dude venting because he assumes the Celtics will always get what they want.

It's not taken out of context. Stein reiterated what was told to him. He added that he didn't believe it and if a deal is made he thinks Boston is the likely destination and if a trade happens it happens really close to the deadline.

More accurately, I would say it wasn't put in context originally.  I think it was very important to note (as others have already done) that Stein didn't believe this GM.  He was just passing on that he was told this to illustrate that opinions on what will happen this week are all over the place, even among executives in the league.

Yeah I'll believe it when I see it. I think Indiana wants to build around George and Turner, not jettison George. He'd have to want out to get sent out, and even wanting out might not do it.

Hearing that Jimmy Butler is more likely to stay with the Bulls than George is to stay with Indy.

I've got to say, outside of moving on from George and going younger, I'm not sure that Indy's significant interest in trading for Okafor makes sense. Wouldn't surprise me in the least to see them cut ties with a George after A) reconsidering paying him $200+ M or B) thinking they're going to lose him next year no matter what since they have no real avenue to significantly improve the team anyways.

Was suggested on the Lowe Post that the Celtics still have interest in Okafor, and that may be in order to shift him to Indiana or Chicago in a George/Butler trade.  Makes a lot of sense: he's a player both teams want.

Of all the big names mentioned, he's the type of player I would want most. But he would cost the most in all likelihood.
