How much do you all want to bet Stephen A. Smith will call it "blasphemous" if the Celtics don't acquire the "prolific, championship caliber scorer" and Smith's "buddy" in Carmelo Anthony.

I mean, if nothing else materializes and you could get Melo + O'Quinn for dirt cheap, sure.

But that's not going to happen or Phil Jackson gets fired (though he should already have been).

They are debating on Jimmy Butler, Blake Griffin, and Carmelo Anthony.

Why trade for Griffin when you can legit just go after him in FA???

Would we get Griffin's bird rights if we traded for him?

I'm actually not sure.

But we could have gotten Ibaka's via small trade but Ainge said "no". I don't think it matters much to him.

He will probably use Bird Rights for IT, Smart.

TP. Thanks!

Hmm I wonder if that matters a ton to Ainge. Didn't in the case for Ibaka. But he didn't deem Ibaka a long term fit here. Does he view Griffin that way?

I think Blake is considerably more likely to sign her if he plays here first. The only way he leaves LA is if they trade him or not offer him a contract in free agency.

I am going to guess that Ainge isn't interested in signing Ibaka for the max so the Bird rights don't matter that much.

That is the one reason why Ainge is trying so hard, because he can offer the full 5 year max contract which is far more appealing to players resigning with their respective or recently traded to franchises/teams.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply

Not to mention the higher raises every year (7.5% instead of 4.5%)
I'm bitter.

We got griffin!

I almost peed my pants before I checked myself. Do you mean they think that is the best option? Or do you have a source or something?
