I'm a big fan of Jae, but the only way we would trade him is for an upgrade. If we are replacing Crowder with Butler, George or upgrading at the 4 with Blake Griffin then I am fine seeing him leave.
I think Jaylen is going to take the starting spot from Jae eventually, so moving Crowder now could be selling high before it becomes obvious we need to trade Jae.
Jae's contract is really underrated, though. We have him at ~$7 million per year for 3 more years
not including this season. He'll be criminally underpaid for the next 3 and a half years, and having him instead of someone like Bradley that will be looking for
another a payday soon could be the difference between keeping our good players in 2018 and having to let them go.
The mid-level exception (signed by guys like Brandan Wright, Shaun Livingston, and Josh McRoberts in the past couple of years) will be over $8 million next year. Crowder will be getting less than $7 million, and has much better production. That contract is gold
