The NY Daily News reported two hours ago that the Cs followed Melo on Instagram:

The NBA trade deadline frenzy has begun on social media.

The Celtics fueled potential trade speculation on Twitter Monday night after the team’s Instagram account followed Knicks All-Star Carmelo Anthony.

With the NBA trade deadline just days away (3 p.m. Thursday) fans are becoming anxious on what will happen next.

I saw a few people on twitter say the celts have always followed melo.  There's no way to tell on instagram when a follow happened or recent follows or anything like that.

I've been on the Melo train since he said he'd come here.

He'll be cheap.....we get to keep almost all our major assets including the BK picks and maybe we get KOQ in the deal too....and we have a 2-3 year bridge/window to the future with Brown, Smart, Bk '17, BK '18....

Amir, Zeller, Rozier, Young and as many non-BK picks that we need to make it work for Melo and KOQ.

That being said, I'm a little surprised that he'd be willing to come to Boston considering the "Honey Nut Cheerios" chant (which, by the way, was hysterical) during the playoffs in 2013. I realize KG is gone, but I wouldn't blame Melo if he held a bit of a grudge for that.

I don't know much about instagram. (My kids do but they're sleeping.) So excuse my ignorance in asking this.

Can a sports media outlet monitor on a daily basis a high profile athletes social media daily at critical times (e.g trade deadlines) to see who they are following and compare it to the prior day to see who's added or deleted?

Also, could that help them pinpoint when the Knicks unfollowed Melo?
