Given that Embiid and Saric are faux rookies having been on pro teams for 2 and 5 years, respectively, there is a chance that JB can be one of the top rookies out of last year's draft class. Brogden's probably the ROY in terms of being a true rookie, but his upside is less than Brown's and some of the others. I am not sold on any of our picks yet as major building blocks, including Brown. However, Brown is better than expected even if his issues going to the hole are as advertised. As the White Mamba has said, the kid has the tools to be far better than he is around the basket. So far, he has defended well for a rookie, shot better from beyond the arc than I expected and has a better handle in transition than i expected. Therefore, I'm relatively pleased.
As for Yabusele, I put no credence in anything he has done. Needs to be playing against higher level competition. Zizic OTOH has exceeded my expectations and I think he'll be able to be a rotation player or better. Nader looked surprisingly good last summer, but I'm withholding any excitement until this summer. Just don't have much confidence in players coming out of the D-League. As for Jackson, I haven't seen anything that warranted a contract. Don't forget Bentil who came out too early.
Overall the Cs did well enough, especially since the 2016 draft class has been very disappointing overall. Have to exclude Simmons who has a very high ceiling. Using the broader definition of rookie, Embiid is an absolute stud given how little game experience he has, but has a questionable future. Saric has played well recently, but so-so overall given his pro background. Give him the benefit of the doubt and he may be a decent starter down the road, but I'll take Brown's upside.
