So would this be a true statement not counting Embiid.....

Celtics have the best rookie in the NBA (Brown), the best rookie in the NBADL (Nader), & the best rookie in Eurobasket (Zizic) ?

I don't know if it's true or not, but holy smokes. This draft was amazing.

I don't think JB is the best rookie so far - he may become the best player of the rookie class but just off the top off my head there are: Embid, Saric, Brogdon, Murray, Ingram, Ferrell....

Jaylen may end up being great, but he hasn't done much yet.

Not sure about Brown but the others are true. Since Zizic signed in turkey he has been fanstastic.
(he didn't play in euroleague with his former team Cibona). Nader, we knew he was good since we saw him in summer league, but still 58th pick? Great pick DA. Now for Brown i'm not sure. It wasn't a strong draft but him playing 15 mpg can't get him ROY i think. In the long run, he will probably have very successful career.

Yabusele is playing good in China. Jackson didn't play much in NBA, but in D-League he looked great, especially for someone drafted 45th. And Ben Bentil isn't a bad player just he didn't want to play in D-League and there wasn't roster spot for him on the Celtics.

Revisiting 16 draft after half season: I wouldn't take anyone over our picks so far

I'd say Murray or Brogdon is having the best season out of players from this draft class (meaning Embiid and Saric don't count).

Given that Embiid and Saric are faux rookies having been on pro teams for 2 and 5 years, respectively, there is a chance that JB can be one of the top rookies out of last year's draft class. Brogden's probably the ROY in terms of being a true rookie, but his upside is less than Brown's and some of the others. I am not sold on any of our picks yet as major building blocks, including Brown. However, Brown is better than expected even if his issues going to the hole are as advertised. As the White Mamba has said, the kid has the tools to be far better than he is around the basket. So far, he has defended well for a rookie, shot better from beyond the arc than I expected and has a better handle in transition than i expected. Therefore, I'm relatively pleased.

As for Yabusele, I put no credence in anything he has done. Needs to be playing against higher level competition. Zizic OTOH has exceeded my expectations and I think he'll be able to be a rotation player or better. Nader looked surprisingly good last summer, but I'm withholding any excitement until this summer. Just don't have much confidence in players coming out of the D-League. As for Jackson, I haven't seen anything that warranted a contract. Don't forget Bentil who came out too early.

Overall the Cs did well enough, especially since the 2016 draft class has been very disappointing overall. Have to exclude Simmons who has a very high ceiling. Using the broader definition of rookie, Embiid is an absolute stud given how little game experience he has, but has a questionable future. Saric has played well recently, but so-so overall given his pro background. Give him the benefit of the doubt and he may be a decent starter down the road, but I'll take Brown's upside.

I think the progress we have seen reported for Zizic is easily the most "under-the-radar" big story for this franchise this year.

good points. just to add one more point, saric will be 23 years old on april 8th. combined with him playing in pro leagues for a while, it is not surprising he started well out of the gate.

i think saric is a good player in the nba. but comparing to rookies with only a few games in college does help him.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
