I realize we have an official thread, but figured this deserved its' own mention. I think it is absolutely insane that the Nets have lost 14 in a row and it doesn't even get a tiny bit of attention (not just from us, but at a national level). They have no young stars, a pretty meh star in Lopez and nothing else. It is absolutely ridiculous. When will they win again? How many do they have to lose in a row for this to become  a national story?

I'm guessing that journalists would much rather write about the Knicks than the Nets. The Knicks are totally dysfunctional. The Nets just suck.

We care a lot about the Nets because of the draft pick. Nobody else does.

Its pretty ridiculous. On top of that they are 1 for their last 25.

Pretty absurd.

There is nothing to say but they stink.

There is no story to complain about tanking because they don't own their pick.

There is no story about their players because they are boring.   Not winning.   Not doing anything stupid in the locker room or away from the team.

probably won't become news until they hit 20 as that is when the 26 loss record will start to become a possibility.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

How do they not take some risks and try to take flyers on available guys with upside like Okafor?  Guys whose stock can't get any lower and they could at least give playing time to up his stock and flip down the road for a higher price than they paid.

3 team trade:  Okafor to Brooklyn from Philly, B. Lopez to Team X from Brooklyn, First round pick or young point guard to Philly from Team X
2020 CelticsStrong All-2000s Draft -- Utah Jazz

Finals Starters:  Jason Kidd - Reggie Miller - PJ Tucker - Al Horford - Shaq
Bench:  Rajon Rondo - Trae Young - Marcus Smart - Jaylen Brown -  Peja Stojakovic - Jamal Mashburn - Carlos Boozer - Tristan Thompson - Mehmet Okur

It's truly a shame that we can't get more ping pong balls based on the margin of their suckiness compared to the runner up.

They HAVE to trade Lopez by next week if they can. Gotta start getting some Draft Picks and rebuild somehow.

Would suck to get the #4 pick.

You are guaranteed the ability to pick from 2 of Fultz, Ball, Jackson, Isaac, Tatum.

not bad for a worst case scenario

Or transfer some of this seasons losses to next year.  I was actually thinking about that the other day.

This is a good draft to run that risk as the top 5 guys should all be real good.

The fact that Brooklyn has not much hope for next year is equally exciting.

Our worst case scenario is that we're going to get one of the top 4 players in a strong draft. Jackson at #3 or 4 might be better than Fultz, no way of telling right now.

I think the lack of a story is due to the almost certainty that the Celtics are going to get a good young player while Brooklyn continues to stink for a couple of years. It's an older story nationally, going back to the Pierce/KG trade in 3.5 years ago.

ESPN has the Celtics as the 6th best team, top 20% percentile. While this is probably true right now, I'm not sure the national scene thinks that they are a legit title contender. With two more BKN firsts, they can remain a top 6 team for a long time.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Well, this year is the BEST chance we will ever have of getting the #1 Pick...and like Danny said, you always want the #1--cause it opens up so many options.

We better hope that Jeremy Lin doesn't come back better than ever. Even if he does, they have 16 of their last 26 on the road including an 8 game road trip right after the ASG. Ouch.
