Ugggh. I'm sitting in the doctor's office with a throat [dang] near swollen shut from streptococcus, and I about screamed when I saw this.

You really couldn't easily beat this offer without giving up any of our core assets, Danny?
Surprised we weren't in at that price.  Would be happy to give up some youngsters and one of our rando first rounders for a year's rental of Ibaka.

Perhaps it means we're still chasing bigger fish.

Agreed.

Ibaka may have been a useful 1 year player, but I'm not 100% sure he's worth giving up assets if the Celtics are convinced that they can maybe snag someone else instead.

I'm okay with steadying the course, and seeing how our team does.

I still think if the Celtics are engaged, locked in, and healthy that even with Ibaka added to the Raptors, that we're a better team. In terms of depth, and chemistry with one of the youngest and brightest coaches steering us.

IMO our team right now is configured for the regular season and their team is configured for the playoffs.

So, let me get this right.  Orlando essentially traded Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova and Domantas Sabonis for Terrence Ross & a late 1st rounder?

Yep.

Nice trade for Toronto. I think that they always had the inside track on Serge due to the Massai Ujiri factor.

If it was between two comparable offers between us and Toronto, Orlando probably asked Serge where he wanted to go and he said Toronto. Massai and Serge have done work in Africa with Basketball without Borders together IIRC.

No problem, I 'd rather have Millsap

Millsap > Ibaka

And he might be younger as well ;)

Celtics were not willing to include Rozier in a potential Ibaka trade per multiple sources.

Yeah, I would not have done that either...could be used for a bigger fish.

I wouldn't let Rozier be a sticking point. I suspect Danny just wasn't interested in a rental and/or paying Ibaka $25 million+ per season.

TP for that tidbit. I actually knew that too.

Massai spoke well of Ibaka and gave him compliments 3 years ago, if I'm correct, which fueled his interest in bringing over Ibaka, but that clearly wasn't going to happen with OKC big 3 still intact.

But who knows how old Ibaka really is lol.

I think it means they're not convinced that Bradley will return as quickly as we might hope.  Trading Rozier could create one hole while patching another.

Agreed I'm thinking they didn't want to resign him so why give up anything of value just for a single season push when it doesn't put you over Cavs

Good trade for Toronto, they needed more Ibaka than Ross and a late 1st this year. However, I highly doubt they are above us with this movement and with Lowry and Ibaka waiting for big contracts next summer, their ceiling to improve has ended. Or at leats logic says that.

Good trade for Orlando, they get a nice rotation player and a first this year for two months of a player that only would make win some games (which they do not want anymore).

Maybe, Boston tried to get Ibaka or maybe not. And a dealbreaker could have been us not having a 2017 first rounder. Well, a normal one  8)  I'm ok letting Ibaka go to the Raptors, consequently. Rozier can be a very good backup for years or get us a better trade aim. He is cost-controlled for now.

Don't enter panic mode, please. 2017 is not our June yet.

Does this mean also danny will try at all cost avoid drafting another guard for the 2017 draft?

Josh Jackson time?..

Extend it back a little further and they traded Tobias Harris, Oladipo, and Sabonis for Ross and a late first.
