Would a starting 5 of IT, Butler, Crowder, Ibaka, Horford be a true contender?

Factoring Brad Stevens in as our coach. The window is small, but I do think they'd have a pretty good shot at beating Cleveland in 7 games.

GSW however are a whole next level beast. We could probably win 2 games vs GSW but would this line up be worth a shot? I think having Brad gives us another lethal edge in a championship series and developing a team that could play to its absolute strengths and beat anyone.

If we could make that line up and keep the 17' Brooklyn pick, Jaylen Brown and Smart, with Olynyk, Jerebko off the bench for the playoffs. We'd have to move something like at least the 18' BRK pick+Bradley+Rozier+Memphis pick I think.

Ibaka could probably be had pretty easily.

Thoughts on that line up? Obviously revolves a lot around what we have to give up but could they win a chip'?

Tough to make major changes this late in the season and have things jell for the playoffs.  That lineup would compare to Cleveland on paper, but maybe not GS.

I think you'd have to give up a lot more than what you're thinking to get both Ibaka and Butler.  If that was the cost, do it in a heartbeat.

As someone else said, not this season but with a full off season, would be a very good team for sure.  I suspect we would end up giving up most of our depth to get those players.  Even the best  teams tend to take a season or two to build up the bench around the stars before they can win a title (I know, not the case for KG and Ray Allen joining the Celtics but they did have a full off season).

we shouldn't be rushing into trades, and Ibaka is the perfect example of that. He is a good player, but ultimately makes no difference.
I love Brad as much as the next guy, but there is so much a coach can do, and there is no way we can compete with GSW this year. It would nothing short of a miracle to pull that of.
Cleveland is within our reach, we are playing great basketball, and getting better as the season progresses, making a trade would disrupt that.
Right now, I'm thinking the only players that are worth biding for are AD, JB and PG, the rest would be a lateral move.

I'd prefer to keep Bradley and send out Crowder if it came to it, since Bradley is a better player on both offense and defense.

That aside, yes, I could see that team challenging anyone.  But I'd put the odds very low of them finding the right chemistry in time to make the Finals this year.  Teams don't make major in-season moves like that and win titles.  It usually requires at least a full off-season to figure things out.

That's a very good squad, full of talent and capable defensively. You got two guys who can score 25+ points on any given night. A couple of big who can defend the rim and the pick and roll. A great hustle glue guy that can contribute on both ends of the floor. Good capable shooters that spread the floor for the two stars that need it. All are willing passers.

That team is a contender. I want that team.

That would be an important factor.

Depends on the health of the Celtics and Health of other contending teams. They easily could be as constructed now if things break the right way. I don't know if Danny should throw in assets on that hope. Ibaka would most likely be a one year rental and could be worth it in hindsight. If the Cavs big three have injuries like they did in there 1st year and we were injury free with Ibaka I would really like our chances of going to the NBA finals.

What's the infatuation with Ibaka? I feel like the dude has definitely fallen off defensively.

Fortunately, in my opinion, a starting lineup of IT Butler Crowder KO (or Jerebko) and Horford is enough to beat Cleveland. I don't know if IT-Smart-Butler-Crowder-Horford will be able to handle GSW but we'll give them a run for their money definitely.
