Oh man, career basically over. Tragedy. Just when Jabari was reeaaallly startin to put it all together..

Real good question is how many NBA players have come back from back to back ACL tears?
Really good question.  Just remember that treatment has improved in recent years and some guys are coming back as quickly as 6-7 months.  If I were Parker though, I would take it real slow.  Real shame.

Michael Redd comes to mind, but he was never the same after the second one.

I'm trying to think of guys who have done it twice. Harry Giles has, and unfortunately, it seems like he may never be the same player again. NFL running back Jamaal Charles has as well, and while I believe there were some complications with his second procedure, he's been unable to return to form. Hopefully, Jabari will be an outlier.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

sorry for the kid...THIS is exactly why building through the draft is tough. if you hang your hats on youth, and something like this happens, your organization is basically screwed.

I say trade the pick for a legit superstar.

Playing devils advocate here, but aren't veterans injury prone as well? Granted rookies in particular are a little prone due to not knowing the game, and not being ready for the physicality.

You are no devil's advocate, but very reasonable. That's why I am so hesitant to trade two of Jaylen, Smart and Brooklyn picks for one player.

People constantly ask for a consolidation trade. When you have a quite good team (let's not count this Sacramento game) mix of veterans and youth, and also a shot of next top-3 picks in two more years, consolidation is not as necessary as in 2007 when we had a poor team.

Sad for Parker and Milwaukee, an intriguing team for the future injuries apart.

Harry Giles is hoping for some inspiring answers.

That said, reinjury isn't that common to begin with, and as sports medicine has dramatically advanced in the past 20 years, the sample size won't be that large one way or the other, I'd think.

This probably reads as retroactive theory-making, but injury histories do seem to be underappreciated when top talents are being considered at draft time.

Reinjuries may not seem that common, but data may be skewed.  Especially in the case of severe injuries, like ligament tears, where careers may end early or playing time/style may drastically change for the sake of prolonging one's career.

Yeah that's really sad. Especially when you know what he's been through already. I doubt he can come back like this twice and still be that athletic.

Really sad news

He was finally Playing free and not thinking of being hurt and he gets hurt.

I think Giles ACL injuries were on both his knees not a re-injury of the same knee.

Yeah, I tried to find players that tore ACL in the same knee twice, I couldn´t find any.

I think he's probably a Marvin Williams type 4 moving forward.  Hopefully he can stay healthy after he comes back from this.

I'm not sure if injuries are under-appreciated.  Maybe by fans you mean?  Most teams give players a thorough look over, and ones with significant injury history tend to fall.  They may not always fall very far, because perhaps a team feels that recurrence is unlikely, or that the talent is worth the risk (as the Bucks have shown, you can draft a perfectly healthy kid who reads his knee twice in 3 years after he's drafted, so the increased risk is marginal in nature, and not binary).  But I do think they're considered.

Most top talents don't have significant injury history anyway -- players that do usually aren't able to display their talent enough to be drafted at the top.
