I wouldn't count out Ainge in this Melo to Cavs deal. I still think Ainge is hot after Love.

I could see

Melo to the Cavs along with Zeller

Love to Celtics along with Kyle O'Quinn

Knicks get 2018 #1, AB, Amir (FA), Rozier

I don't think the Cavs are out to help us. This trade does by a mile and they know what Love can provide this team so highly think this ain't happening but I am still all for Love .

Freakin Lebron wants his cake too much..get Melo without giving up Love...pathetic.

The only way this scenario makes sense is if we give the Cavs additional value to persuade them to move Love.

They've already made it clear that they don't won't to swap Love for Melo.

Perhaps if we included Olynyk, that would be a start.

Also, for the Knicks. If we traded the '18 BKN pick for Melo straight up, folks here would be up in arms. That pick is much more valuable than Melo at this stage of his career.

I would switch the deal maybe and send AB to Cleveland and Zeller to the NYK.

I don't know if I like the deal. But that would make it more realistic imo.

Here's where the Celtics have leverage if they get involved.

PJ doesn't want Melo anymore. He wants his contract off the books. He wants to dump salary...maybe even Noah.

Bron knows he needs more help and he doesn't want Toronto or Boston to make any more moves that might catapult them over the Cavs. He knows Ainge usually does something.

The closer that deadline comes, the less Ainge has to give up if he wants to just listen in on talks.

How does the 4/5 tandem of Love/Horford sound when it comes to interior defense? God help us!

It may be worth it even if it helps th Cavs this year. If we manage to get them to move one of their two young stars to us, then they will go into a steeper and faster decline once Melo and Lebron age , I mean Melo is already in decline and Lebron's not far from it. With Love plus Kyrie the Cavs could transition well to a less Lebron dependent contender. With only Kyrie though , while still paying Melo and Lebron, not so much. We keep Jaylen, Smart, plus the Nets 2017 pick, Love , IT and Horford, we'd be in great shape.

I agree with you 100%. I just think Ainge has a thing for Love. He likes bigs who can shoot 3s. Look how many 3s the Cs shoot now and Stevens doesn't say a word. If we're dealing with KO's weak defense, he may be thinking why not get Love.

Horford needs to do his work around the paint anyway. He's even fallen into shooting too many 3s.

I believe CLE would look at a trade package which would include Kelly Olynyk coming back to them as favorable given he somewhat absorbs and replaces the loss of Love (on a much lesser scale of course).

I was tossing around trades in the realgm trade checker this morning on this very topic and below works:

BOS: Love
CLE: Anthony, Jennings, Olynyk
NYK: Amir Johnson, Avery Bradley, Channing Frye

Maybe picks in any direction to sweeten it up. NYK might feel like they are slighted in the above scenario, but honestly they cant expect a greater return for Melo at this stage and have ZERO leverage.

Perter Vescey posted this basic idea on twitter a couple of weeks ago.

I do not think the Cavs end up moving love but if they do a 3 way deal with the Celtics makes alot more sense then Love going to the knicks. It would also make sense with the Rumors that Phill likes a few players on the Cs and in the heat of the Melo to the Cs rumors he was said to have scouts checking on young celtic players.

As much as Melo's value may be driven down by Phill and the no trade clause I do not think the original posters AB+Rozier+Amir+Nets 1st gets the deal done

I would figure the deal would have to include Jaylen Brown

Maybe a package of

To Knicks      Jaylen + Rozier + JJ + Zeller + Nets 18

To Cs            Love + Holiday + Plumlee + Vujacic (cut)

To Cavs        Melo

Mavs

To be honest, that is a lot to give up for Love.

So I would have to say, no thanks to that.

Jaylen, Rozier, and the Nets?

The Cavs are not trading Love for Anthony.  Any proposal made in this thread better have a lot of extra real value going to Cleveland or you are just wasting your time (which you might be anyway).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

That's too much to give up when Ainge isn't forced to do anything. He's helping PJ unload Melo. The Cavs have no leverage because they have no cap room and no assets and LeBron has already said he needs help. The Knicks have no leverage because Melo hates PJ and he needs to start the rebuild.

Holiday and Plumlee do us no good. I'm not giving the Knicks 2017 pick, no Brown, no Crowder. If they want the 2018 pick, AB (FA), Amir (FA), Rozier and Zeller. I would even throw in KO if they give back O'Quinn.
