I think it may come down to a bidding war bet. TOR and BOS for Ibaka.

BOS can offer more but I don't see them doing more, while TOR could get desperate at the deadline a bit.

There is no player out there that would put us at Cavs or GS level.

Can't see Ainge making a move before deadline.....or if he does, won't be anything big.

I would be really really happy with trading for anyone of these guys except Vuc, but Bogut makes the most sense for me. We don't have to give up too much, he won't hurt our flexibility, and as he ages, Zizic will be able to take over for him as our starting center.

Yeah, that's the idea. Make a minor move to help make the second round or even ECF.

That's why the names on the poll are all non-blockbuster ideas lol.

I would say the same a month ago, but Bogut has been oft-injured this season, and it's possible he just gets bought-out (aka no trade needed).

They need a strong rebounder. Even Faried would be acceptable at this point. I don't know if he or Nurkic would cost more. Denver has too many bigs, and they seem to be the most logical trade partner. Bogut just can't stay on the floor enough to be of much help. The Orlando guys will probably cost them too much. They can't afford to trade starters, including Smart--they aren't that deep. Use those many non Nets draft picks!

You could probably get Nurkic or Ibaka without giving up a starting core member or any BKN picks.

I think Bogut isn't much of an option anymore due to injuries and such..

Vucevic as well because Magic want back good value for him.
I'm bumping this thread b/c I was just about to put up a similar poll.  This is more likely than a blockbuster, i.e. Melo, Butler, Cousins, Love or even Millsap.  I would add Faried and Noel to the poll if Bogut is a choice, just so all the reasonable bigs are there.  Some would say to add Okafor but he seems to be headed to NO.

That said, I voted for Ibaka.  He may not be peak-form OKC Ibaka, but he is still a very complete player who is having a decent season.  IMO, Ibaka would give the C's the edge over Toronto and Washington to make it to the ECF, yet still retain future flexibility to continue to build for the long-term.

You figure Ibaka and Noel should be most available, since they are FAs and probably aren't being re-signed. Philly knows Noel wants to play in Boston, so the Celtics have that option during the summer. They have the leverage on these players. And then you have the Denver logjam up front, with Nurkic and Faried available. It's a question of sorting out what you have to give up to get one of them. That's why it will come down to the deadline, when the prices come down for players teams want to unload. Ainge has got to use those non Nets draft picks in dealing--he has too many.

I don't see much chance Bogut gets bought out if the Mavs keep him past the deadline, barring a complete collapse from Dallas over the next month. They're making up ground on the 8-seed in the West and aren't likely to tank the very end of Dirk's career there. Based on their play lately I actually expect Dallas to stand pat or make a minor addition over the next two weeks to try to grab that last playoff spot.

No thanks to Mirotic, he's a lesser version of Jerebko this year.  Gibson would be a decent pick up though.

Mirotic and Jerebko are as similar as an egg and a pencil.

IMO Mirotic is a lot closer to KO than JJ.

Limited athleticism, high shooting, dribbling, and passing skill for his size. Poor lateral quickness.

Except KO knows his limitations and has a high BBIQ. Mirotic is an overconfident chucker, and has zero clue of how to play defense. He looks as lost on that end as any player I've ever seen.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I would add Taj Gibson, Boban, Aaron Baynes, Greg Monroe, Kyle O'Quinn, Nerlens Noel, Alex Len,  and Alan Williams to the list of bigs we could go after.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Nurkic traded to Portland. Chris Anderson to Charlotte. Ibaka and Okafor on the move.
Ainge has to come out of this with a rebounder.

You know Andersen is out for the year (and likely his career) with a torn ACL, right? He has nothing to do with any of the Celtics needs or goals.

It would be a shame tbh.

I mean I would be upset if someone got Ibaka for relatively cheap.

Could have his bird rights, a firsthand look for him, and as a bonus he helps us progress in the playoffs (I DON'T want another first round exit. Period).

Plus he really shouldn't be expensive (no BKN picks, no Smart, Brown)

just read that the bulls made lopez available for a first rounder.

Certainly interesting and probably a good fit for us.

Definitely worth a look - but the green teamers will have a stroke over spending a first round draft pick that could become another 6-2 guard who can't shoot.
