Zeller, BOS 2018 and any of Jackson, Young and Mickey for Ibaka. Add second rounders if needed.

FWIW Nate Duncan talked about the trade deadline needs for the Atlantic Division on his most recent podcast and mentioned how our best move would most likely be to take on an impact player on an expiring contract. The 2 obvious candidates were Millsap and Ibaka.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/244787/Duncd-On-Pod-Trade-Deadline-Atlantic-Division-NOP-SAS

They think Millsap will stay put but Ibaka would make a lot of sense for us. All it would take is Amir's contract to match and and future Mid First.

They also feel that any move for a Max Guy like Jimmy Butler or Paul George would be better served waiting until the Summer so we can use our cap space before taking on another massive salary.

2 other things I found interesting...

Paul George most likely won't qualify for the designated veteran contract since he'd have to make another all NBA team. This means he's more likely to move than he would have been if he was eligible to resign for big money.

They feel that even though you'll hear a lot of people say that Danny is holding onto our assets too long and need's to be more aggressive in making a move, it's more likely that Danny staying the course this long has increased our position of power since that it's now clear that at least 1 but probably both of the Brooklyn picks will be top tier assets and the players that we're looking at are now closer to free agency and therefor less valuable on the trade market.

It's a good listen. Always interesting to hear the national perspective on your team.

TP for the link.
Indeed, very nice podcast, Dunc'd knows what he's talking about. Very interesting view of the Cs

I think Ibaka makes more sense than any of the other rumored trades out there.  Make it happen Danny!

I'd trade any big not named Al Horford along with those names/assets to acquire Serge Ibaka. He'd be an easy upgrade at our PF position the minute he puts on a green jersey. This should be highly considered.

The other great thing about Serge, besides how well he'd fit this system is his experience. This is a guy that was in some very high profile games with OKC and always seemed to play well in those moments. The Celtics could use another guy like that along with Horford to settle the team down in the playoffs.

Why not just trade for both Ibaka and Vucevic??? Instantly inject rebounding and rim protection in to our front-court. Ibaka is a far better defender on the block than anyone else we have, and Vucevic is decent enough.

I would send the Magic basically every expendable asset we have that isn't BKN picks, Smart, Brown, or any other starters.

My proposal would be:

Boston Trades- Amir, Jerbeko, Olynyk, Rozier, Boston 2018 1st, however many 2nd round picks.

Orlando Trades- Ibaka, Vucevic

Sucks to have to get rid of Rozier....if there was a way to swap him out of the deal and add Jackson as a PG prospect and another future non-BKN 1st?

We trim our rotation this season, and also create space for our new draft stock, plus our overseas stashes. The 2nd rounders likely won't make the team anyway. Orlando gets solid prospects and picks to build something with from one guy who bolts for sure, and another who can't possibly be part of their 5-year plan.
It's a 'win now' move with a completely re-vamped front court. You do sacrifice some nice young players in Rozier and Olynyk, but you keep this core:

Horford, IT, Crowder, Smart, Brown , Bradley, both Nets picks

Magic play against the Hawks tonight.

Hope Ibaka has a good game and Magic win (for seeding purposes too).

The whole age thing just scares me you know? I think he is a little down in Orlando, and would do well here. But he may be 30 something. Conspiracies around the age may be legitimate.

I don't mind if Ibaka plays well, but I'd rather Orlando be as far away from the playoffs as possible when the deadline comes.

True but I don't see Orlando creeping back honestly.

And it does help Boston seeding wise if ATL loses.

I wouldn't mind Orlando winning tonight then going on a big losing streak lol.

I think Ibaka will be a Celtic by the deadline. He could be the missing piece for this year. I don't care how old he is for this season. We will see with his play if he is old like Amir or just currently in a bad situation. Make the cheap deal Danny.

I think he's a decent rental to bring in for one of our own distant picks first round picks, but everyone is going to have to be realistic with expectations: Serge Ibaka is no longer a star.

1. Serge Ibaka is no longer actually good at defense.  He is just barely a net positive by defensive +/- (0.7), and no longer protects the rim like he did in his prime (4.3% block rate).

2. Serge Ibaka does not single-handedly solve our rebounding woes.  His defensive rebound rate is 19.4%, which is nothing special.  (Yet somehow would still be #2 on the entire Celtics team because we're that bad at rebounding.)

If we are going to bring him in, we need to remember that he's not the super-elite 3-and-D guy he was three seasons ago.  At this point he's just a slow power forward who shoots threes and plays average defense.  That is still a valuable player, and it's definitely something we can use in the rotation, but he's not going to make us contenders.

He traded for a rental of Antoine Walker that managed to sell playoff tickets one year.
