Russell averaged 19.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 5.0 apg, 1.6 spg shooting over 41% from three in 34 mpg at Ohio State. I think people need to keep that in perspective when they start talking about these young players.
I take in account the more recent sample size and the one with good competition level.
He can print his stats and nail them to the wall, but it won't change his current competition nor make him fast Moranis.
Sure, but Russell was a dominate college player at a major program, and has struggled in the NBA despite his size. He is very clearly a talented player. I merely offered that perspective because these college kids might also similarly struggle. I mean look at Brandon Ingram. He has struggled mightily with the Lakers, but was very good at Duke.
Fultz, Ball, Taytum, Smith, Jackson, etc. might very well be future HOFers, or they might struggle a great deal. There really is no predicting, but at least with Russell you know exactly what you are going to get, so there might be some real value there as opposed to the unknown, especially since Russell hasn't exactly been terrible.
EDIT: Let me just state this now, I don't think Russell is a good fit here with the roster as is, so I unless I had another move in place, I wouldn't make the trade
