In other sporting "news", Bill Walton is coming out of retirement to sign with the Boston Celtics for the remainder of the season.  ::)
finally solves our rebounding issues!

If he can stay healthy  ;)
I trust Danny Ainge

An interesting concept discussed in the article (tp for posting it) relates to how Ainge dealt with having so many picks last year. It does give an opportunity to see how he thinks and why.

As Danny had the luxury of "time" with these three players (nowhere to put them), he probably selected differently. If the Celtics team sucked and his back/job was against the wall?  He would not have taken Yabu at 16, many thought Zizic was early and some had Nader off the board.

If any of these picks work out, having your stuff together  (I have been told I am not allowed to use the synonym for "stuff") allows you to "build" your teams two to three years out instead of praying for a "lucky break" (IT anyone?) to bail you out.

Ainge is not going to get fired, creating continuity which in turn allows for the long term plan to play out.

Another local franchise plays the continuity game with good effect. The Patriots have it down to such a point that over two years can eliminate Jones and Collins and still be 3 point favorites to win this Sunday.

I would definitely hold on to Ante. Got a feeling he could be our Jokic...

Why?  As with every other trade, depends on what we get back.  Tired of people not wanting to trade (perceived) good players.  If Zizic truely has value, and we can properly gauge that value, then a trade may be a good thing, especially if we are getting a known quantity.

I have a really hard time believing Zizic goes top 10 in this draft. Great news non the less.

The general manager speculated that if Zizic had not come out last season, when the Celtics got him with the 23rd pick, “he would almost certainly be a lottery pick in this draft, maybe Top 10, even though this is a deeper draft than last year. He would be better than a draft pick, really, because you can see what you’re getting

Dont want to be a debbie downer but unlikely

Jokic has pg skills as well knows how to use his size to his adv

Zizic is a nice blue collar center prospect....  Could turn out to be a gortat

Having a Gortat-like player would be awesome. I've long wished that Boston could've snagged Gortat.

Zizic is essentially what everyone has been longing for all year. Unless it's part of a package for a star, we probably shouldn't part with him. I'm less sold on Yabu, though.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Some good stuff in there but on the roster spots taldk I'm not feeling Yab but Zizic is looking solid. DJ and Mickey should be gone so that is two roster spots for young guys. Green may get a bigger deal else where after he shines in a game or two in the playoffs that is the Nets picks spot. So no worries about space for young guys that's at least 3 spots.

Actually, with the addition of 2 two-way contracts to be used for the D-League (bump in salary for these players), the maximum roster size will actually be 17. You also forgot to include Young in your list of outcasts.

This comes just at the right time as DA has so many young players and draft picks to keep track of. It also means we don't have to let go of anyone who may still show some promise.

As for the article, we couldn't really ask for more. Whoever we selected with these draft picks were never really going to contribute this season - glad to see they are actually gaining value rather than becoming forgotten about international prospects. I, too, am especially excited about Zizic.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I was excited until I saw sportingnews.com

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I was excited until I saw Yab's body type compared to Crowder's.  Not even close.

What do you mean? Not even close how. I think Yabu would bodyslam Crowder. Yabu will be the strongest guy in the team as soon as he gets here.

I mean Yabu is much more muscular than Crowder.  So much so that it was a strange comment from the guy evaluating him.

The 2016 draft could go down as Ainge's greatest draft. However, it does pain me to see Zubac doing so well and knowing we could have drafted him, while only dumping the SF sized scrub that is Mickey.
Were are the lakers again??, I don't care celtics are in much bettr shape than the lakers right , could care less if Zubac becomes an all star and zicic not, GO CELTICS!!!

When Danny makes a trade to improve this team, whether this year or during the offseason, I see 2 of Yabu, Zizic and Nader being included. There is just no way Ainge saddles Stevens with a bench consisting of 4 rookies and 2 ssecond year players next year...not for a team in win now mode.

You might want to check out the 1981 Celtics team. Only 3 guys on that roster that have age 30 and above.

But one of the guys was larry bird, that would be an * as soon as larry came into the nba he was one of the best players in entire league.
