I know, I know, Isaiah Thomas is already in the ASG and will recruit for us, and it's no surprise to anyone here that any Celtics coach or player in the ASG will talk to other players and throw out feelers for the trade deadline OR this summer.
But man, assuming the Celtics hold on to the #2 seed at the end of the week, and CBS gets to coach the ASG, that could be a HUGE advantage.
Players would hopefully respect Brad Stevens, and I hope they could have a lot of nice things to say about Stevens. Having our "power duo" of CBS and IT "recruiting" and throwing out feelers makes me feel giddy for some reason. Yeah, it's entirely possible it amounts to nothing, but a frustrated star on a mediocre team could really take their "recruitment" seriously.
I'm looking at you, Jimmy Butler lol. IT did talk with Butler at the Draft Lottery last summer. It's possible Ainge has the leverage in a Butler deal, and even if it requires a 2017 Brooklyn Pick, the C's may not need to give up a ton more to get Butler, especially if Butler practically demands out.
And yeah, I know Butler alone added to this team doesn't make us title contenders, but you can make the case that Butler + the addition of a BIG (REBOUNDER) could launch this team ahead of TOR, and maybe even CLE (would be a close series).
Warriors still sitting pretty, BUT when they max Curry + Durant, can they even afford to keep a solid bench a few years from now? Will they be able to pay Klay as well later on?
