Wish we could get Jokic

I cant believe how good he has become. Can shoot/pass and rebound/block shots.. total package

Faried is a player Danny should take a long hard look at ..

The Nuggets have been trying to trade Faried for multiple seasons.  I'm not saying he'd be a bad acquisition, but I'm sure the Celtics have taken a very long look at him, and that there's a reason the Nuggets have been trying so hard (in vain) to move him.
early in his career he was a beast rebounder who looked like he could develop into a stud defender and had a burgeoning offensive game. Since then, his rebounding has declined and his offensive growth has stagnated and most importanly hes managed to regress defensively.

People tend to be intrigued by him because they remember the beast rebounder who should be good at D of a few years ago.

I disagree

The nuggets have a surplus up front.  Jokic is grabbing lots of rebounds as well.  Mudiay loves to grab rebounds and run

Faried doesnt need to prove himself. And is locked up to a nice contract.  This said, his fire has also gone down the drain

I dunno if you can totally blame him as the nuggets have sukked for a long time

He would be rejuvanated if traded to the Celtics. He is still capable to grab 13-15 rebounds (has done it several times this season) and is a versatile defender. Has a reliable mid range jump shot

Trade idea

To Nuggets: Rozier, Young, Amir, 2017 all 2nd round picks
To Celtics: Faried, Nurkic, mike miller

Celtics lineup

Horford
Faried
Crowder
AB
IT4

Nurkic
KO
Brown
Green
Smart/Jackson

Finally some size/rebounding help upfront.

1st issue the Nuggets are not trading both on them away for that haul. They really gain nothing.

2nd is Faried, I do not dislike him as a player but it is important to note that he lack a reliable jumper and is not a versatile defender. He gets by on defense with his hustle but he is top small to be effecting 1v1 in the post and cant guard most SFs on the perimeter. It is also important to realize he is roughly the same size as Jaylen Brown.

I disagree part 2. He can guard sfs. Probably better than pfs

Outside of leonard, tony allen and faried ,  nobody else in the league can guard lebron properly

He would be a valuable addition

Well if its between faried or nurkic im ok with either. But i know faried would come alive again as a celtic

TP for the Lebron point. Heck, remember when we put Brandon Bass on Lebron - and it actually wasn't so bad? Better to put a guy on James who's at least his match in size/weight than someone who can keep up with quickness but gives up length. I actually think Faried could play a role here as designated Lebron defender. Bet he would give DeRozan fits, too. Think of the switching that could happen here:

Smart/Bradley/Crowder/Faried/Horford.

I would want no part of that lineup for even 10-12 minutes a game.

As for Nurkic, if I'm not mistaken, he'll be a RFA in 2018 - right? So not much to worry about in terms of long-term cap hits. Plus he's on his rookie deal. He's cheap and he's proven he can play. Whether or not he'll get better or improve some of the attitude stuff is tough for foresee.

Not particularly fond of either player.

Nut kick is a dinosaur in this league, and he doesn't necessarily fit with our roster personnel at all, especially defensively.

I'm more okay with a Faried trade with him being a better fit at the 4, but that takes away our free agent max contract hopes this summer, which I'm not sure is worth it.

I still think a Noel trade makes the most sense. Doesn't bring quite as much rebounding as Faried, but he brings much greater defense rim protection, which we need, along with an evolving offense that's only getting better. He also doesn't preclude us from getting someone like a Hayward this summer either, though we'd probably have to trade Crowder to make room, which shouldn't be a problem since we need to have playing time for Jaylen's development anyways.

The Nuggets want backcourt help, which means they are going to want Bradley or Smart.  So that is the question.  Would you trade Bradley or Smart (plus say Zeller for contract filler) for Nurkic and Faried?  I'm a bit torn on that myself, but I think I might ultimately pull that trigger on a Bradley/Zeller trade as I think both Nurkic and Faried would play well next to Horford and Olynyk.  Leaves the backcourt a bit light, but with Bradley hurt and a bit of a logjam in the backcourt, I think that would balance out the roster a bit more.  Plus, Boston still has the expiring contracts of Johnson and Jerekbo, plus all the picks to balance out the roster a bit more.

Post-Trade
PG - Thomas, Rozier, Jackson
SG - Smart, Green, Young
SF - Crowder, Brown, Jerekbo
PF - Faried, Olynyk, Mickey
C - Horford, Nurkic, Johnson

Then maybe you join in on the Anthony to LAC trade.

Boston - Redick
NY - Johnson, Crawford, Rivers, B. Johnson, Anderson, BOS 2018 1st, LAC 2022 1st
LAC - Anthony, Lee, Plumlee

So Boston after that 2nd trade

PG - Thomas, Rozier, Jackson
SG - Redick, Smart, Green, Young
SF - Crowder, Brown, Jerekbo
PF - Faried, Olynyk, Mickey
C - Horford, Nurkic

That looks like a team that could pose some issues for the Cavs with its size and three point shooting.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I could be talked into the first trade and on paper, the second one. However, integrating 3 players into your top 7 in half a season seems like a stretch here.

Also, I may be misreading the second trade, but are we getting Reddick for Amir Johnson and Bos '18. Seems a bit of an underpay especially when you factor in that Doc LOVES JJ Redick.

I get the impression from some of the posts that some of the Celtics bench players are vastly overrated.

There are several of those Denver bigs who could help the Celtics. Any would fit in the starting lineup. It would be a plus if they could get one for any of those bench players. Plus maybe a low draft pick.

I wouldn't be interested in helping the Clippers get anybody in any deal. Ainge doesn't have to do that. Keep it simple, Danny. He can get a starting big without affecting the cap or giving up the Nets picks.

I would love to have either player here.

I think Faried would be very good because of Horford's skills on the perimeter at center. Boston can live with a low-skilled PF like Faried. It would be fantastic to have a big man with Faried's speed and athleticism in it's rotation. All those rebounds and loose balls he'd recover. Faried would be a big addition to this team.

Nurkic would be great as well. A beast in the paint. On both ends of the court. And on the boards. Just get of his way and let him do his thing.

Both guys bring physical toughness and interior play to a team. Something Boston needs.

Pretty much all of this.  Either player would fit a huge need.  Nurkic is 23!

well the 2nd trade was in a larger trade for Anthony not on its own, but yeah it might be a bit light.  I'd gladly throw in some other lower tier assets to make it work.
