Faried is a player Danny should take a long hard look at ..

The Nuggets have been trying to trade Faried for multiple seasons.  I'm not saying he'd be a bad acquisition, but I'm sure the Celtics have taken a very long look at him, and that there's a reason the Nuggets have been trying so hard (in vain) to move him.
They are probably asking too much. He was once considered a top 30 player so it's possible they aren't being realistic with his current value.

I don't know that he was ever considered a top 30 player by NBA front offenses.  In fact I highly doubt that to be the case.

Rumor has it they're not asking for much at all -- some rumors suggest they'd send a pick or prospect with him just to unload the rest of his contract.

tough call a trade for Faried impacts the Cs cap in the off-season and doesn't put them in contention with the Cavs. Nurkic is a nice fit who may ultimately be redundant with Zizic. Granted Zizic isn't helping this season and isn't proven but to sacrifice assets for Nurkic may not be a good idea.

Nurkic is better than zizic

Nurkic for a giant can really move on the floor. Zizic has to try hard out on the perimeter. He will have problems at the nba level.  Zizic reminds me of mozgov... These type of centers are day by day becoming extinct at the nba level

In any case dont have to worry about clogging issues until next season

And with these two (faried , nurkic) you have a solid chance to get past the 1st round

That might be a bit high but he was considered a fringe all star snub and made an USA team. He was also considered an up and coming star at one point. He never took that next step and seems to have taken two steps back instead.

early in his career he was a beast rebounder who looked like he could develop into a stud defender and had a burgeoning offensive game. Since then, his rebounding has declined and his offensive growth has stagnated and most importanly hes managed to regress defensively.

People tend to be intrigued by him because they remember the beast rebounder who should be good at D of a few years ago.

I disagree

The nuggets have a surplus up front.  Jokic is grabbing lots of rebounds as well.  Mudiay loves to grab rebounds and run

Faried doesnt need to prove himself. And is locked up to a nice contract.  This said, his fire has also gone down the drain

I dunno if you can totally blame him as the nuggets have sukked for a long time

He would be rejuvanated if traded to the Celtics. He is still capable to grab 13-15 rebounds (has done it several times this season) and is a versatile defender. Has a reliable mid range jump shot

Trade idea

To Nuggets: Rozier, Young, Amir, 2017 all 2nd round picks
To Celtics: Faried, Nurkic, mike miller

Celtics lineup

Horford
Faried
Crowder
AB
IT4

Nurkic
KO
Brown
Green
Smart/Jackson

Finally some size/rebounding help upfront.

1st issue the Nuggets are not trading both on them away for that haul. They really gain nothing.

2nd is Faried, I do not dislike him as a player but it is important to note that he lack a reliable jumper and is not a versatile defender. He gets by on defense with his hustle but he is top small to be effecting 1v1 in the post and cant guard most SFs on the perimeter. It is also important to realize he is roughly the same size as Jaylen Brown.

I disagree on the Mozgov comparison. Zizic moves a lot better then Moz.

I'm torn because I think Zizic has a chance to be really good but Nurkic is proven.

We also need to unload a guard.

I think I would go with my gut and leave the roster spot open for Zizic and pass on Nurkic but make a play for Farried since he's different then Zizic and Nurkic. He gives the team a different play style. Nurkic and Zizic are too similar.

I'd offer Smart for Farried and a draft pick.

It's worth noting that Zizic's age 19 Adriatic League per-36 stats are almost exactly the same as Nurkic, only Zizic played almost twice as many minutes as Nurkic did.

They're indeed very similar players, to the point where maybe it doesn't really make sense to invest significant assets into Nurkic.
Agreed. TP for the comparison stats. I think the eye test also shows two similar players.

I disagree part 2. He can guard sfs. Probably better than pfs

Outside of leonard, tony allen and faried ,  nobody else in the league can guard lebron properly

He would be a valuable addition

Well if its between faried or nurkic im ok with either. But i know faried would come alive again as a celtic

It's a no go. With Olynyk and Crowder already on the roster, acquiring Faried would put us over the hair cap.

We would also have someone that can neutralize tristant thompson on the boards

Look at the highlights below. Its not like his explosiveness, work ethic is gone.

Can you tell me which 2017 FA you are targeting to bring in?

Curry is not coming here. Griffin not likely...

You can always trade players out in that situation ...

Another interesting thing about Farried is his ability to help on the high pick and roll. He has the quickness to switch and defend guards more so then our current bigs.

I would love to have either player here.

I think Faried would be very good because of Horford's skills on the perimeter at center. Boston can live with a low-skilled PF like Faried. It would be fantastic to have a big man with Faried's speed and athleticism in it's rotation. All those rebounds and loose balls he'd recover. Faried would be a big addition to this team.

Nurkic would be great as well. A beast in the paint. On both ends of the court. And on the boards. Just get of his way and let him do his thing.

Both guys bring physical toughness and interior play to a team. Something Boston needs.

Haha. I originally was reading this quickly and saw it as "a hair over the cap". Once I reread it, it made me laugh.

I wouldn't go after Faried because he is signed for multiple years and would take away our cap space this summer.

I think you need to read Boris' post more closely.  He's saying that having Kelly (who has long hair) and Crowder (who has dreads) on the team means that we couldn't add Faried (who has dreads) because that would mean we had too much hair on the team (aka "put us over the hair cap")

It's an example of what is colloquially known as a "joke", and does not have to do with our ability to sign free agents (unless said free agents had long hair or dreads)
I'm bitter.

Faried and IT4 pnr could be very good bc Faried could clean up many missed shots
