Any combination of picks as long as they are not Nets picks.

If we don't have to include smart you have to try it.

I don't want Carmelo unless another trade for another star is lined up.

Keep the cap flexibility for the summer.

Melo plays no defense and plays way too much Iso-Ball.

Also I question his desire to win a championship (doesn't seem to have that mentality).

I like the trade idea but don't want Carmelo. That's my logic.

I wouldn't take him for free.  The actual cost of Carmelo is completely closing the door to any free agent signings.

Pretty much this. If he was a few years younger, you could make the argument that by the time Brown and the Nets pick(s) come into their own, we'd have enough to be a contender. But Carmelo would pretty much tie the C's to trading their young assets for a star to win now. And maybe that works if the Kings would trade Boogie. But it wouldn't give the C's many options.

I had a good Feeling Horford was coming here.

Does anyone really have a good feeling Hayward or Milsap is coming here next year? Cause I don't.

Maybe Noel, but his reputation looks terrible right now.

Melo is past it. He'll do nothing but regress in the coming few years.

Man, with that trade kicker you almost necessarily kill your big bench depth to get him. I don't think that proposed trade works with his trade kicker.

EDIT: Just looked it up, and I think for just Melo you'd have to send out $23,554,600 in salary.

So a trade of Amir, Zeller, Rozier, Young, and something like the Memphis pick and the Clippers pick would work at $23,731,640, but your trade of Amir, Olynyk, Rozier, and Jonas falls short at a bit over $22M.

I'd still definitely do Amir, Zeller, Rozier, Young, the Memphis pick, and the Clippers pick for him, though.

That Memphis pick is only protected 1-8 in 2019 (1-6 in 2020, unprotected in 2021).  Its lifespan coincides with just about exactly when you'd expect Conley and Gasol to drop off.  It could stealthily be one of our more valuable assets and I certainly wouldn't just throw it into a trade like that.

I'd say the odds that all of Griffin/Hayward/Milsap staying with their current team are lower than the odds of at least one of them leaving.  That chance is worth something.

That manages to be a bad trade for both teams.  We get Melo, who sucks, and they get no real assets.

The majority says no. But the majority would probably not have traded two prospects for Sale. Or Hanley for Beckett and Lowell in '07. Ka-ching. Championship.

The suggested deal is basically nothing for Melo, from what I can see. All are secondary players. Olynyk won't be resigned unless they fail completely in FAs off season.

I'm not 100% sold on Melo--especially defensively. But he's a 20+ ppg guy, and they don't grow on trees. And at $27M, he's level 2 at next year's prices.

Plus they still have those Nets picks, plus their core team.

I'd do this, and Sanders, too.  Maybe because I doubt they can sign a top FA this summer.
You got to carpe diem.
