What picture does it paint to future free agents when they see Boston make a marquee FA signing (which is a rarity for the Celtics), only to see them trade that FA 3-4 months in. They are the 3rd seed in the East, it's not like they are tanking.

You guys knew this team wasn't making it out of the East this season.. right? I'd rather we develop the young players, and build around IT/Smart/Horford/Brown (add using Nets Picks, another FA signing this summer - preferably a big, and get Zizic/Yabusele over here).

But I've seen like 10 different posts and even a few threads saying we should trade Horford...

It paints the picture you don't get to sign a max contract, come in here, and be the 4th best player.

This isn't even an option because no team would take him.  No team is going to take a player getting paid the max for years to come that plays like a back up.

I mean, I get he's having a rough stretch, but saying we should trade him because of it is pretty extreme.

Same with Crowder.

Do you want to try and build a contender within the next 2-3 years.. or do you want to ship off Horford/IT/Crowder, etc. and take the Sixers route?

I don't think you can trade them for draft picks. But since Al and Crowder aren't getting the job done I definitely want to see them coming off the bench until they wake up

Unless the Celts get a piece or two to make Horford long term deal worthwhile (chance at ring)

its not worth it to build a team around him...that ship has sailed when he was with the Hawks

Its win now or very soon...or might as well trade him

Benefits the Celts (semi rebuild) and benefits horford (chance at a ring)

That's fine (bench part). But can't trade them for draft picks? What are we trading them for then? Role players? We all know no one is giving a star for any of those two.

This team is currently injured and seems out of sorts.. but it's only been the past few games. Give them time, Horford will start balling again and Crowder is starting to come alive again.

It would be one thing if they were like 15-23 right now with this roster, but right now they are 23-15 and just having a bad little stretch.

You all are egregiously undervaluing Horford.

Trade Horford, trade IT, bench Crowder.

I don't get it. I thought that having the Nets picks would satiate the desire to root for ping pong balls, but obviously not.
