It was a very different game back then, so going by numbers alone isn't completely fair.  I'm still going with Iverson, but it's credit to IT that you can have a reasonable debate about it.

No, he isn't. Iverson was a heck of a defender, and he carried his team to the Finals with one of the least impressive supporting casts in history.

Come back when Thomas earns his 17th allstar appearance and we'll talk again.

Still going with Iverson but there a lot of similarities in their style.  Both seem to play with reckless abandon on the offensive.  No fear of driving to the hoop and taking repeated punishment.  Prime Iverson was absolute insane beating his guy off the dribble.  Incredible first step.   That guy was special, warts & all.

It was a very different game back then, so going by numbers alone isn't completely fair.  I'm still going with Iverson, but it's credit to IT that you can have a reasonable debate about it.

Probably sums up my thoughts best, also.

IT is playing this season as well as a typical Iverson season but in totality, no, Iverson accomplished more in his career.  Even if you look at Iverson at his best vs. IT at his best, I feel Iverson is better.

Well, Iverson is the only guy in NBA history not named Michael Jordan who has multiple seasons of 25+ ppg, 5+ apg, and 2.5+ spg. Thomas is nowhere close to Iverson's level in anything other than scoring, really.

Can IT play on the hand-check era?

Given that Iverson's best was back to back seasons of 30 ppg, 7 apg, and nearly 2 steals, Thomas has a long, long way to go to catch up.

IT is coachable, Iverson was not folks.   For that reason alone I would pick IT over him.

I don't like volume scorers like Iverson, I never have.   IT can shoot.  Iverson took 21 shots a game to his points.IT takes 13.4. to get his points, no one mentions this one.  If IT took 7 more shots a game he would score more than Iverson and IT has better shooting % across the board.

Wait are you not going to consider the rules AI played with and the ones IT played with? If AI played today there is no doubt he would have killed it more.

Exactly, just like Ray Allen would have killed it as well.
