I'm not trading Smart for Okafor.

They want Noel, not Okafor. Who they should trade for him is up to Ainge.

we won't beat toronto without some type of move.   but i'm not sure it's even worth it.  this team might not be ready till we get brown and the two Brooklyn picks as the center pieces.

Ugh, I hate the thought that this team's true relevance might still be 3-4 years away.

My picture of the Celtics changed when Ainge signed Zeller for $8 million. That was a shock to me. How he could pay a bench player more than most of his starters was beyond me.

The response: "That was market price." Heck I wouldn't pay any price for Zeller. They needed a defensive big, and that he is not. Perimeter pick n roll? He's spending most of his time getting bench splinters these days.

Plenty of pick n rollers. Not so plenty rebounders.

Can we hold out another 5 days before Ainge unloads this guy?

I might flip if Ainge does nothing while Bogut gets traded to another contender for a bag of chips.

Everyone want something for nothing. Don't trade smart, don't trade picks. Nobody wants to trade anything of value at all. You guys are awful.

Bogut is as fragile as a bag of chips.

Bogut could be had for cheap.

But knowing Ainge, he'll probably just let some contender scoop him up for nothing...

LOL.  You know Ainge won't make trades or anything.

This board is insane sometimes.

We had better hope one of the BRK picks turns into a mega star. In three or four years IT and Horford will be close to done.

I mean, define relevance, I suppose.

Many teams would kill to be where the Celts are right now, and the Celts are set up to be at least as good as they are now for the next five to ten years.

It is really hard to get from good to great in this league. Many teams go decades without truly managing it. You basically have to get an MVP caliber player to do it.

If you watched the game last night and thought that Toronto was clearly a better team, then fine.  That is your opinion.

I watched the Celtics be the better team for most of the game.  They simply could not stop Derozan, and that happens in NBA games.  The rebounding issues are also killing their defense.  It is hard to give full-effort for stops and then watch a big guy for the other team simply give them a re-do.

For me, the solution is simple and it sort of flows with the thread.  They are the #3 seed in the East.  They should win the first round, and then they will play the Raptors in a 7-game series.  They need to make sure their roster is capable of competing with that team over the course of a series.  They need big guys to compete with JV.  We don't have anyone who can handle that guy on the glass.

Get help down low and the team will be fine.

It's strange that a guy who is as "fragile as a bag of chips" can average 10 rebounds a game, like Bogut.

I am sure Zeller will immediately recover from his chronic illness on or about January 16, 2017, in Dallas.

You seem to be confusing "fragile" with "soft".  No one is calling Bogut soft (he's not), but you're crazy if you think a guy that has already missed 16 games so far this year (and may miss their next game, too) isn't fragile
I'm bitter.

Zizic would have been perfect antidote against JV in last night's Toronto game.  Very physical, tough on boards.  Long.  Of course, he probably would have fouled out in the first 10 minutes, being a young rookie.  In 2-3 years, Zizic will be our answer to big centers like JV. Right now we just suffer.

Be patient.

The get a big man who just fills the role of rebounding will not be filled until close to the deadline.

I see the Celtics keeping most of their chips and flexibility to trade for a star if one becomes available up to the deadline.

If nothing happens, then have in place the smaller trade (like a Bogut) to fill that weakness for the stretch run and playoffs.

can I say Zizic is built roughly the same as JV? one could hope
